It's like being in the twilight zone with all these bizarre comments. I'm 100% convinced the vastly differing opinions on evening games are to do with varying levels of inebriation around the ground. I'd imagine many like a nice bevvy in the evening...

Don't listen to the pessimists, they weren't watching the game intently enough (I was stone-dry). Brighton looked quick, dangerous, and better than anyone we've faced. Thanks to reverting to the pairing that has done best for us(Henry/Barton) we were able nullify them.

The two games Henry didn't play, were Swindon and Birmingham. Anyone see a pattern in the levels of performance there?

Are we now entitled to beat teams in the division? Anything other than a win is an abject performance from the mighty QPR?

Yesterday showing was a million times better than the Birmingham showing (I was at both), and in a way I actually left the ground feeling more positive than at the weekend. Don't worry folks, on yesterday's performance we'll be alright this season. We've got AJ, Hoillet, Kranjcar, a 100% fit M.Phillips, and 1/2 loan strikers to come in.

We didn't deserve to beat Brum, and did deserve to beat Brighton. So 4 points is probably a fair haul, even if it did come the wrong way round.

I was actually thinking the same about the crowd noise on Saturday. When we scored it just seemed very muted and nervous celebration.
Think Dave is right, after 2 seasons of utter disappointment maybe we've just forgot how to celebrate and actually make some noise when needed.

The Swindon performance wasnt down to henry, do you honestly think wed have won if he played? Birmingham was down to playing Zamora, a 442 and playing Carroll out of position in cm.

Henry is just as good as breaking up our attacks and breaking up theirs.

He can only play in a negative formation which means he is a useless signing.

You must have had the beer goggles on last night if you thought we deserved to win last night.

Not sure your sample size is big enough or controlled enough to pull those conclusions about Henry.

The two games Juan Mata has played this season for Chelsea they have lost. On that basis does that he is rubbish and shouldn’t play anymore

Well we had more possession, 12 shots to their 5, 3 shots on target to their 1, and they committed 21 fouls to our 9 (because they couldn't deal with the skill of our players). They scrambled a shot off the line, we had a few other guilt edged chances(which Charlie fluffed), and we dominated most of the 2nd half.

Out of interest, just to get an idea how far apart our opinions are- how would you compare the performance on Saturday to the one yesterday?

That sentence sums up Flyer's total lack of football knowledge.

Weird, I suppose Flyer missed the various cracking passes Henry made yesterday. He's quite an incisive attacking passer- that aspect of his game is underrated. He even makes a few forward runs! Which is more than Faurlin does (can he run anymore?). Jenas looked pants once more when he came on too.

I thought it was a piss poor result as said before. These teams, in their current form, should be overcome at Loftus Road. We should be 3pts clear of everyone else, not squeaking ahead by a point.
I'll be happy settling for a point at home, against a below average side, when it's the one that wins us automatic promotion - otherwise it's not good enough given our form, position and opportunity.
Need to do better than accept a point just because it puts us top so early in the season!

Well Brighton had won 2 and draw 2 of their previous 4, prior to coming to us. That includes a tricky away day at Reading, who're on the up now.
Why are Brighton seen as a pushover? they played the most attractive expansive style we've seen come to Loftus Road this season. They finished 4th last season.

I was on their forums prior to the game, and they all didn't think we'd score- because they claim to have a very sturdy defence. Yet they still scraped a goal off the line to cling to a point. And that's all while we're missing arguably our four most potent attacking players (including the loan).

Anyone remember that Barton freekick their keeper clawed round the post? That was good wasn't it!
He made a couple of other good saves too

Oh dear Flyer... See my post immediately before yours. There was one from an Austin header too, and one from a Dunne header I think it was

From what I heard on the radio commentary Brighton were a hard side to break down and to my mind we are going to have to contend with this more and more this season as teams will come to HQ and stick 10 players behind the ball and try to nick a goal on the break. We may well have to accept that there will be more 0-0 and 1-0 scorelines than 3 or 4-0 at home.

It is highly likely that when we are away we may get more opportunities as the onus will be on the home side to attack more thereby leaving more gaps to exploit.

I know that there is a general feeling of anti climax last night as we didn't get 3 points but all together now:

    We're top of the league
    We're top of the league
    We're QueenPark Rangers
    We're top of the league

    Now doesn't that feel good?

Having just watched the QPRplayer highlights: There was the goal ruled offside which would have counted if Phillips had held his run a little longer. The great chance sliced wide by Austin. The brilliant saves by their keeper from Austin's header, Dunnes header(scrambled from the line afterwards), and Barton's freekick. Plus a few other less clear cut chances.

I say it again, our attacking options were depleted.

Wow, just read most of this thread. Yet another 'light blue touch paper and step well clear' thread.

    Here's my tuppence worth.

We are top of the league and that is great but quite precarious since there is no real daylight between us and others.

Do we want to win, be top and 'piss over the rest of the league'? Of course we do! Not because want to be top by more (though desirable) but because that means we will have more of a team that will do better in the PL than the last two season's efforts.

The long term goal is not simply promotion but becoming a credible PL team capable of attracting decent players who want to play for QPR, for the badge and the fans, in the new stadium.

Brilliant save? It was straight at him, I was sat right behind the goalie, he didn't even have to move?

Of course our options were depleted but that didn't stop him keeping our two most attacking sub's nailed to the bench.
