Match 18 of 42 This was Charlton's last match played at the Valley before the Club moved home to the Catford Mount Stadium in Mountsfield Park. The CAFC board had decided Charlton should ground-share with non-league Catford Southend FC from this point on, in their brand new (unfinished in fact) huge concrete stadium, wholly funded by Harry Isaacs; a local pub owner and entrepreneur. Isaacs was on the Board of Charlton Athletic Directors between June 1923 and May 1924. At the time, the Mount Stadium was the largest in England after Wembley. Not only would Charlton Athletic ground-share with Catford Southend, the Addicks would change their home kit to vertical light & dark blue stripes - Catford Southend colours. The eventual plan (not revealed at the time), would be a full merger between the two Clubs.
