This match was the Charlton Athletic debut for Jimmy Oakes, who would go on to play 234 games for the Club between this day and the outbreak of the Second World War.
Jimmy Oakes was in the Port Vale team that played Charlton on Boxing Day 1932, in a match that was abandoned after an hour due to worsening fog. When the match was re-played in April 1933 Jimmy was on the pitch again, this time as a Charlton player - the first to play for both teams in the same fixture.
