No but fair play to him. Very, very positive in what can only be described as gloomy times (relatively speaking)

Minor incentive to beat Sunderland against the incentive & media pressure of a big game against a rival "bigger' team

Their players will want to impress but I don't believe their minds & bodies will be ready for another battle against a PERCEIVED less fashionable team.
Their minds will be focused on the Liverpool game in mid week - imo

Sometimes these protests can result in the fans uniting behind the team, especially if they play well at the start..The protest is against the owners not the team..

They won't want to lose from another perspective - If they lose again on Saturday it will be a new club record of 12 defeats on the bounce.

Are Villa as bad as they seem?

Yes. Defeat on Saturday would be a new club record 12 defeats on the bounce. Defensively, they are all over the place and as Eric Black put it recently, ‘if we’re having to score four or five goals to win a game it’s not going to be easy’. The midfielders often forget what their defensive duties are and that leaves the backline exposed. Up front there has been little service to Ayew and Gestede and the goals have been hard to come by. Villa are bowing out of the Premier League as one of the worst teams ever.

Have they got it in them to cause an upset?

Despite the recent form, they actually looked a bit better last weekend. At 2-1 up against Watford they were in control and a new-look back three of Toner, Lescott and Clark seemed to have the Watford attack locked down. But when Cissokho was sent off the man disadvantage cost them and they were eventually exposed and punished. That said, there were some good signs and Villa will be desperate to stop the rot this weekend.

Is there anyone Newcastle should be worried about?

Jordan Ayew has been a constant threat all season and if he gets some service he can cause problems. He’s the top goalscorer with seven goals and likes to shoot from outside the box. Apart from him there’s not too much to worry about!

Will the protests make a difference?

Villa have been booing certain individuals for about a month now. Guzan, Bacuna, Lescott, Richards and Richardson are the main targets. Villa fans have also held up banners and walked out of their seats in recent weeks. It’s a strange atmosphere for the away team but the regulars at Villa Park are almost used to the protests now.

Seven years on, what do Villa fans think of the bad blood that *those* banners caused in the infamous relegation game?

It has been mentioned and some fans have mocked Newcastle for their weak reply ‘Glum in the Brum’ - doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it? I think they’re more concerned with their own problems these days, though!

    From The Chronicle.
