If arranging to meet at the match is off topic you are being unreasonable.

If some posts are deleted but others more off topic are left you are being unfair.

If jammy has gone because of your flippant post tonight shame on you.

There you go but only seen as you asked

Fair play to Adam if he wanted no part in this.

Are we going to go round the houses on this for ever & ever? Only people that will suit are the agitators & finger-pointers.

Time for a step back & work out the way forward.

First, an observation, which has already been made. If you are going to place restrictions on a thread, you must make it clear what can & cannot be posted in that thread. Perfectly clear! You haven't, so currently, subjects such as 'meeting up' are both correctly & incorrectly included. Mods, you need to issue guidelines for this thread. You won't get it right first time around, so build it up.

    Can I offer a solution?

    1. Continue with the match day thread, but specify exclusions/restrictions in the OP as a standard.
    2. Open a companion thread for each match day thread, with no restrictions, to accommodate banter, meet-ups etc.

Might not work, but why not give it a try - unless someone else has another solution. I'm sure it's out there, as this was just off the top of my head.

I'll close with a question to Mods - is it possible or in any way manageable to transfer a comment from the match day thread to the companion if someone does err?

Good points that billy big bollocks’s are avoiding commenting on or even acknowledging despite having time to have a few pops to stir the pot a bit more.

    That’s two posters gone now...
Between them they went to over 50 games last season...
What a way to treat real Leeds supporters.

Interest on the match day thread... If interest is a decline in the amount of posts, for sure without a shadow of a doubt, there will be pages of less posts on that ONE subject matter. The upside of it being on topic, a new member might stop by and enjoy what he reads. Some myself included would prefer 4 pages of good material than 15 pages of nonsense.

Members will still post as much though, just elsewhere, the morning thread always starts topical and then goes free for all, I don’t mind that, anyone joining would understand it’s a hello thread where anything goes.

In regards to meet ups we could even have a regular “Who’s going to the game post”, we can have as many threads as you like. Because one thread out of hundreds has to remain on topic the overall post count of this forum won’t go down.

    Morning WJ

I tested moving an off topic post into the Saloon and it worked so yes it is possible. I’m okay with meet ups being agreed in the match day thread, but I too understand why even allowing that causes problems as you get someone posting an image of a Topic Bar, you get members questioning why is this and that allowed if it’s off topic just to be awkward.

If a list of rules were printed it would be like going back to school and you’d get someone going out of their way to bring it down, we have one rule, match day threads must remain on topic and it’s a problem adhering to it, can you imagine a list.....

The morning thread is anything goes, that really is the accompanying thread I’d assume and match day is match day, I’d suggest having a separate who’s going to the game thread on a regular basis until it’s cleared up.

Just settling in and back from the holidays today. After a quick scroll through this thread I see we’ve lost a couple of posters. Could someone summarize please what happened and who left

Jammy took offence at having his posts deleted from the match thread and left and Glory decided it's all ristacs fault, despite him doing nothing.Think he's got the hump with Charlton losing.

    Let’s cut to the chase...
What’s the problem you personally have with WJs excellent idea?
Have you invested in getting your own way no matter what others think.

    View from the naughty step.

I was involved in the deleted thread sequence, where a few late-night posters, with a few beers on board, reconnected with their faintly remembered rebellious teenage years by poking some gentle fun at the on-topic topic. It wasn't serious, and I don't care for a minute that the posts were deleted - Elland will confirm that we expected them to be.

The fact that the mods completely over-reacted to the idea that some of us don't completely agree with them speaks volumes, and I'm looking at you here Elland. Posting a topic picture, the horror! How dare I ffs.

Maybe passing newbies might be more attracted to a match day thread that reflects better the humorous balance of the community as a whole than to a simple no frills match discussion.

I suggested it be opened up, the rules relaxed, after the game finished and match comment was finished. Unacceptable.

Ristac suggested we post banter on the breakfast thread that runs alongside the match day thread. There isn't one, hence Jock's call above.

WJ is right, deep breath all round needed and a sense of perspective, from mods and the rest of us alike.

For what it’s worth, l like the match day thread and particularly from the posters that attend and see the team live. I have no problem with it remaining on topic, as I want to hear how people think we played etc. I don’t think it unreasonable to be asked that one thread is like that. I accept that others feel that they are being told what they can and can’t do. Also agree that arrangements to meet for the game is on topic, once it spreads to piss takes on tranny bars etc. I lose interest as that is obviously in jokes between those that went.
Anyway here’s hoping for a resounding Leeds victory, which I will be watching on sky in my local bar in Spain, or is that too on topic for the off topic thread <laugh>

Do you expect three individuals to have the same opinion, me Bucks and Elland all have our own ideas, sometimes the same, other times different, the good thing is we respect each other as well as everyone else on here.

None of us agree with every poster, I like WJs idea, the reason I’m against it, I BELIEVE you will get your wooden spoon out and try and destroy the original match day thread, it’s in your nature.

I didn’t delete the early threads, Bucks did and even Cheshire and now LeedsOfLondon are confirming the majority that were deleted were nothing to do with meet ups.

Yeah below picture of a match, dawn and a bobbin. It was to reassure Bielsa if he looked in that the match day thread was on topic, since he doesn't speak much English.

    Feckin' subversive me. :bandit:

I don’t tend to post on the matchday thread. Even last year I tended to venture onafter bucks plea to let it be a dead thread before venturing on it, the problem was already fixed. Others clearly resented the mod overkill..

if you are already prejudging me my just sent pm was in vain.

You have hit the nail on its head when you said 'rebellious teenage years by poking some gentle fun at the on-topic topic', though you were wrong that I took Topic-gate out of context...<laugh>
