ITâS Silverware Saturday at Celtic Park this weekend as the Clydesdale Bank Premier League Champions prepare to receive the SPL trophy after the game against St Johnstone. However, the celebrations will start long before that and there´s more than just ONE piece of silverware on show so make sure you get to the ground early. At 10.45am, Gavin McMillan of Oban High School will pipe the Celtic team bus up to the front door of Paradise. Taking part in that procession will be Roddie MacIsaac, Archie MacDonald and John Christie of the Oban CSC who will have completed a 100-mile walk from their home town to Celtic Park whilst raising money for the 1254125 charity campaign as well. Oban High School are active partners in Celtic FC Foundationâs Music Project and Gavin will continue to play as the management and first-team squad alight the bus to enter the stadium. There´s an exclusive live interview with the Celtic captain on the big screens prior to the players´ warm-up and a flag-bearing guard of honour will welcome the teams out on to the pitch. At half-time, Celtic´s double-winning Under-20s´ squad will receiver their medals and parade the League trophy and ScottishYouth Cup in a lap of honour. In addition, family members representing some of the victorious Coronation Cup-winning team of 60 years ago will be out on the pitch along with the famous, rarely-seen trophy as well. When the full-time whistle blows, Chairman Ian Bankier will make a special presentation to Bill Henderson to mark his retirement after 50 years´ voluntary service doing commentary for the visually-impaired at Celtic Park. From behind the home dugout, Bill has described some of the greatest days and nights in the history of the Club to a grateful audience, but on Saturday, after 50 years of outstanding service to Rex Blind Parties, he lays his microphone down for the very last time. The presentation by the Chairman is an acknowledgement of that wonderful service and also a tribute to REX, a unique organisation that has been responsible for the health, safety and enjoyment of the visually-impaired at Scottish football grounds since 1937. Finally, the party really takes off when the Celtic first-team squad and management come back out on to the pitch to receive the SPL trophy as back-to-back Champions. You won´t want to miss out on the action so âCome On Over to OUR Place, We´re Having a PARTY!â
Celtic captain Scott Brown will return to the squad for the visit of St Johnstone following a three-month injury absence. James Forrest and Adam Matthews are also back in contention for the hosts but Lassad Nouioui is unavailable. Saints will be without injured midfielders Mehdi Abeid and Chris Millar, who join David Robertson and Jamie Adams on the sidelines. But both Callum and Murray Davidson have returned to training. After the match, the home side will be presented with the Scottish Premier League trophy. Celtic manager Neil Lennon: "Brown will be in the squad with a view to playing at some stage. "His rehab has gone really well, we are delighted with that. He has been training the last week to 10 days so he just needs football now. "Obviously with Beram Kayal and Victor Wanyama being suspended [for the Scottish Cup final on 26 May], if we can get him up to speed then it is a timely boost for us." St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas: "It's a massive game. They are collecting the trophy and there will be a partisan atmosphere but we have our own agenda to get a result that keeps the European race alive going into the final game. "It's a great challenge for the boys to go there - can we ruin their party? "We know it's going to be a tough match but we have been on a decent run of form. "We are in there fighting and we are trying to take it to the last game of the season."
Great to know that Scott Brown is back in contention - I think he's been badly missed. As the article says, with Beram Kayal and Victor Wanyama out for the cup final his comeback (if possible) would be very timely!
I am coaching smallies at midday so it is going to be a delayed broadcast in Casa del Rebel today. Six to the Celtic. Nil to the ****s.
hand ball leading up to the first. more importantly, i think we have got attendance wang in the bag this week...
Glasgow Celtic Champions oh oh oh oh oh oh oh There's only one Neil Lennon God bless the Pope Up the 'RA
So much for the claims by msm that they couldn't get back up for the cup final. Brilliant performance by the bhoys. Thought wrights blatant elbow on lustig going unpunished was shameful. Assume Lundy will have a look at that one.......and jump oot his seat in joy, then claim it was accidental, meanwhile a 3 match ban for Neil for not protesting strongly enough about it. Their time is coming btw.
