Don't know whereabouts you sit, but watch it again on different camera angles tonight - I've seen people red carded for those. But as a performance, to see them coming back from 0-1 then 1-3 to earn a point was a supreme testament to exactly what Lambert and Culverhouse have brought to this football club
Agreed, bad day at the office but still managed to come away with a point. Blackburn were just too big for us, Samba was a ****ing monster and so was N'zonzi, especially compared to the likes of Bennett, Hoolahan and Fox.
I don't think Bennett was harshly booked, he won the ball, but believe me if he hadn't he could of done some real damage to whoever it was he slid out. And maybe as you say N'Zonzi shouldn't of been complacent, but the ball looked to be going out for a goal kick to me or whatever definatley wasn't a scoring chance, and we'd of felt aggrieved to of conceded a penalty like that. But like I have said a few times already it's balancing out the handball for I think it was Johnson's goalbound header,
I had a bit of a bad feeling about this game from the moment Hoolahan emerged from the tunnel with a mascot who was bigger than him. Then he stood next to Samba. As for the game, we were under par. A number of players had their worst game of the season so far, not that we were awful, just not as good as we can be. The first half was a lot of pretty passing and nothing to show for it until Hoillet's goal. As good as it was, it was poor defending on our part as he should never have been allowed to get his shot away. Second half was better. We should've had a penalty, but Morison's goal made up for that. Yakubu's goal was a combination of Martin being muscled off the ball a bit too easily and Ruddy making a hash of the shot. His reaction to the goal says it all really, he was very frustrated. The third goal, again poor defending. We left a huge space behind the defensive line and got punished for it. Blackburn can rightly feel hard done by with our second and third goals, but its about time we got a bit of luck, and as we know from a few seasons a go, when you're at the bottom of the league everything goes against you, however if they continue playing as they did today they might be able to escape.
I think we have to shake things up a bit for the Villa game, weve now played the same team for a few games now and it needs to be freshened up. I was dissapointed that we started with only one forward when at home, i feel we could play the starting line up away from home, but we need to be a bit more positive at home, maybe Bennett could make way fro Holt ? Blackburn were not as poor as i was expecting them to be tbh, & it was def a point gained rather than two dropped. OTBC
Starting Holt instead of Bennett is a good idea, the only problem being if you play 4-4-2 you have to force Hoolahan out wide, where he's not very effective, but if you play the diamond, you take away Pilkington's wide play. It's a nice position for Lambert to be in though. Personally I think we should leave it as it is for the Villa game as the 4-5-1 gives us a bit more of a defensive option, however we should maybe freshen it up for the Arsenal game. Finger's crossed Van Persie picks up his customary injury at some point next week so he won't be fit to play against us. Not a serious injury, just a hamstring strain or something like that, something that'll keep him out for a week or so.
With you chippy, I'd like to see crofts start. Use the whole squad to encourage competition. One or two changes I'm suggesting
I think if we had started with the diamond instead of the 4-2-3-1 then we would have wiped the floor with them, they set them selves up for our current formation and it would have put dent in keans plans for the match! I think it could be time for morison and holt to play up top again BUT were only seeing them together for the best part of 1/3rd of a game, could holt go the distance from the off?? At the end of the day ILWT
I said to the old man at half time we needed to use the diamond, if only Lambert has listened to me. In CanariesSoccer We Trust.
