Manager of the season: Marcelo Bielsa Team of the season Leeds Utd And this weekend I will explain why: Using the player valuations from Transfermkt.com gives you a team valuation, then work that back into the number of goals scored, gives you a simple cost per goal scored. Do the same for points gained and you get the reality of how good your team and manager really are. Man City squad valuation: £702.6m Chelsea squad valuation: £692m Liverpool squad valuation: £869m Man Utd squad valuation: £667m Leicester squad valuation: £421m Spurs squad valuation : £612m Arsenal squad valuation: £495m Leeds Utd squad valuation: £161.2m Man City spent £9.8m for each goal scored Chelsea spent £12.6m for each goal scored Liverpool spent £14.25m for each goal scored Man Utd spent £10m for each goal scored Leicester spent £6.7m for each goal scored Spurs spent £10m for each goal scored Arsenal spent £10.2m for each goal scored Leeds Utd spent £3m for each goal scored League Table for cost per goal Leeds Utd – Marcelo Bielsa Leicester – Brenden Rodgers Man City – Pep Guardiola Spurs – Jose’ Moreneo Man Utd – OGS Arsenal – Mikel Arteta Chelsea – Tommy 2 coats Liverpool – Jurgen Klopp League Table for cost per point Leeds Utd - £3.2m per point Leicester - £6.3m per point Man City - £8.8m per point Arsenal - £9.5m per point Man Utd - £9.52m per point Chelsea - £10.8m per point Spurs - £11m per point Liverpool - £14.5m per point So the basic facts are the best 3 managers and the best 3 teams on points per £ spent and goals per £ spent are Bielsa & Leeds Utd, Rodgers and Pep, in that order
This weeks weekend post is based upon Gary Neville and spit the scouse who had a chat about who should be manager of the season. Neville said Bielsa is being overlooked and it will hurt Leeds fans, but Bielsa has been great, his team a breath of fresh air........ went on to talk about the great job Dyche has done for 6 seasons, great job Tommy 2 coats has done, Pep blah blah blah. My argument is that none of them could have done what Leeds have done on the budget Bielsa had. I rest my case...
Just looked at the data on Steve Bruce at Newcastle and the squad is valued at £230m which is over £70m more than Leeds and the analysis is that Newcastle spent £6m per point and £5.75m per goal, so almost twice as much per goal and per point as Leeds Utd. and anyone interested in Dyche and Burnley they still spent almost a million quid more per point and almost double per goal than Leeds Utd. I rest my case
Some more interesting facts on our time with Marcelo Bielsa In 18/19 season we had a 54% win rate In 19/20 season we had a 61% win rate First season in Prem League we have a 43% win rate Overall Bielsa has earned Leeds a 54% win rate We have scored 203 goals at an average of 1.6 goals per game We have only lost 28 games under Bielsa in 3 seasons The loss rate of 22% is important because it means that in 78% of the games we win points I dont think many managers have this sort of record unless they have a huge budget and are one of the best coaches in the world. Remember Bielsa has never had a huge budget anywhere hes been and has never been at one of the big name clubs. Even Pep said recently that if Bielsa was at Man City he would win more cups than me.
We where one of those big name clubs once, and feared throughout the land and Europe .......and if the likes of spurs are classed as one now who have won nowt for quite a passage of time, well either the standard for inclusion has diminished or we have a great chance of once again being considered at the very least
Really really pleased for Kemar Roofe who not only picked up the SPL title medal but also had the best goal stats in the league. He came 2nd in goals but played 6 fewer games than Edourd the winner but Roofe had the best goals per game average, best expected goals per game best shots accuracy %. Well done Kemar
He was always going to tear it up in Scotland. Its a poor league and he is a good Championship striker. If he plays he will score goals up there. I have watched a bit of Rangers recently and I'm not sure they would have outcompeted Watford and Norwich this season.
Wooooh hold your horses, you’ll have the wee man from Wetherby on your case if you dare to say SPL isnt better than Seria A or La Liga, or Premier League, or Bundesleage
Can anyone clear up whats happening regarding the Alioski incident. I saw a burnley player foul him and then stand over him, then that player was subbed and Alioski was sticking his tongue out , now Sky are mentioning racist things. FFS
My view is that the Burnley player fouled Alioski and got booked for it. E was taken off because of the booking and because Alioski had wound him up and could get him sent off. The Burnley player shouted into Alioskis face and Alioski pulled his tongue out. If the Burnley player says he was racist or spat at him its not on any camera........?
Yes which was a joke but this time done right in front of both benches and neither manager saw or heard anything except Alioski sticking his tongue out, no way can racism be brought into this
Great result for football today in the FA Cup Final. A decent owner who has done everything he can for the club and a bunch of players giving their all for the owner the club the manager and the fans
The fact is Casilla was found that he 'probably did it'. It would have never got to Court should the Police have investigated, as there was no evidence! I fear for Alioski. All O'Neil has to say that that he interpreted one of Alioski's faces as a monkey, and he and Leeds are bang in trouble! Whether its true, it doesn't matter. If this continues I can see white people not mixing out of fear of offending someone by accident. Where is this going to stop? Stop the bullshit one knee bollox. All its doing is heightening the awareness of anyone that is not white into thinking that every white person is a racist!
Being saying it for ages as usual we are our own worst enemies give an inch and some will take a mile Time a stop was put on all this bollocks.
