I even double checked that is was Sky Sports and not Sky Sporks! I originally just posted the SS tweet on the testing thread but then when Scarbs tweeted about Massa it seemed likely that they were related . Don't know why Scarbs tweeted that though.
nope the big news is.... Red bull are flying out a completely new car chassis for the last 2 days!!! http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/news/12475/7560474/Red-Bull-flying-out-new-car-
I'm guessing that Massa has been trying out his skills as a quarterback again. And surely a Red Bull could fly itself to testing.
Maybe someone had a time machine and went forwards six months, because I can't see Massa in a Ferrari at the end of the season.
Looks like Sky have made Ted very anti Mclaren and Ferrari. Red Bull will surely loose a lot of time tomorrow performing checks on the new chassis, as Lotus had to, as well as the new parts. Seems a lot of people are righting Ferrari off. Mclaren had a troubled pre season last year and everyone said they'd be 5th fastest come Australia, but they were second fastest. Ferarri don't usually go the 'innovative' route, so that may set their progress a little, but I still think they'll be in the top 3, but Mercedes very close this time round
Ferrari have got a relatively easy route to replace Massa if he starts the season poorly again, what with Perez pretty much lined up to replace him.
what about Kobayashi? He had a fairly average year last year, but he's still a top class driver, definitely one of the best in the midfield. A lot of drivers have been lined up though previously (Kubica, Rosberg, etc), and I wouldnt be surprised if even di Resta has a shot. Massa is just a mid field driver, he should have recovered from his accident and he hasnt. I've been watching the race edits on the official f1 site, and it's not just Hamilton he's had incidents with. Australia was diabolical for him last year; weaving on the main straight and forcing Button to cut the chicane. Not only that, but he couldnt even manage to overtake the Mercedes cars when he got stuck behind them across the year
I'd love to see Kobayashi given a shot in a top car but I just don't see it happening sadly. That said, with the way the drivers' market looks like going at the end of the year... Kubica was lined up by Ferrari but he needs to recover first while di Resta is lined up to replace Schumacher when he retires (again). Rosberg I could see Ferrari going for, but given that Perez was part of their young driver programme, he's still my bet. Agreed that it's a shame about Massa. He was really talented - 2008 proved that beyond all doubt. But that crash has obviously killed his career.
