Well there is hell on about the original film, that Julie Andrews 'blacked up' during the chimney sweep scene, well I mean it is totally shocking, and racist and could cause world war 3 if it is not addressed in parliament soon. Here are 2 examples.

another one is possibly the worst. Miners after finishing their shift, well what can I say lol.

there is a bloke in America who thinks the miner's one is racist !. I would not mind watching the black and white minstrels nowadays, when you consider we have to watch programmes like stricktly come dancing on a Saturday night now.

Never understood why there are racist tones over this nowadays. If a white man wants to go to a fancy dress as a black man then they need to black up. Same if a black man wants to go as a white man, he needs to white up.

No you're completely wrong there - it's only racist if it's a white man as a black man.

Could you imagine someone creating an "association of white lawyers" who only support white people? There would be uproar - but an association of BLack lawyers is fine!

As someone on tv said the other day , we are fed up of white people telling black people what they should be offended at. It can make the black people think we’re all saying and thinking , when in fact we’re not . Has any black person been concerned about Mary Poppins over the last 50 years ? Has any kid been pushed to be a racist because of MP ? One person stirring up trouble here

Same in the Police Marcus, there's an Association of Black Police Officers but there isn't a white one, totally bonkers why are black people so precious about the colour of their skin, they need to get over themselves.

I was a union rep - I'm 43, white, male and straight

There's a group for Women, for over 50s, for under 21s, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Not a group for a white male between 21 and 50. When I brought up the idea of creating one I got both barrels from the powers that be. SO much so that I quit the union on principle.

I'm certainly no racist - but, as you say, the people who seem to have more issue with the colour of a black person's skin are black people. I see a person, nothing else!

It just PC again.

Sadly there exist some people whose only function is to present themselves as Saints by highlight the perceived flaws in the character's of us lesser mortal's.

And, even if it were true, which it plainly isn't, it is ridiculous to be critical of someone portraying a perfectly acceptable, at the time, stereotype, much as Al Jolson did on occasions.

At the same time that the MP film was made the most popular light entertainment show on TV was 'The Black and White Minstrel Show'.
It ran for year and was watched by many millions.
Were we ALL, performers, BBC Technicians and viewers,along with the Usherettes and staff at the cinemas showing MP -- racist?

Because if you follow the PC argument we all must be.

I wonder what they make of the military?
I wouldn't want to suggest to members of The SAS that 'blacking up' for a nigh time job makes them racist.

It's mainly an American thing I think, cos of the comedians making fun of the blacks way back when.

I ****ing hate the cultural appropriation thing atm . If whites aren't allowed to get dreadlocks, wear Indian headdresses in fancy dress etc, then black women shouldn't lighten their skin, straighten their hair or anything else.
If we're not allowed to mix culture then we might as well segregate based along cultural lines. ****ing stupid idiots.

FFS!! Thought this Thread was Slamming Alan "Mary Poppins" Shearer for some reason..... If this 'Colour thing takes off we wont be allowed to refer to our Unwashed Neighbours as 'B***K & W***e' Bar Stewards !!!!!!!!!
