Marvin Elliot will be McInnes's first choice in CM. Think he'll be joined by Skuse with Adomah and Pearson wide. Not sure until I see Morris where he'll play unless McInnes plays Morris in midfield and only 1 up front. Morris may be McInnes's idea of a playmaker. McInnes must know something about Morris to bring him to the Championship. Personally I would have preferred City 'pushing the boat out' with a younger playmaker who's played Prem or Championship rather than a 33year old from a Sunday League. So jury's out till August for me.
Marvin will not be leaving city,Delboy rates him big time,a key player works his socks off for the cause and will score his fair share of goals. Marv on form is as good as any in the division.
Elliot couldn't trap a wet bag of cement. It would be nice if McDel could find some real footballers who can pass AND tackle, create AND destroy. Having said that, if we dont get an offer over 1m I would keep Elliot for the bench in case we need to put it about a bit. Dont worry Shiny - I think McDel understands the significance of Marv to Bristol City
Every team needs a sitter who breaks up the opposition moves and Cisse was that man last year, when he played. However it looks unlikely that he will be back so this is Marv's big chance to re-establish himself in this role for us but he needs to step his game back up to the level he was at in his first season. To me, whilst I am absolutely not questioning Marv's committment or spirit, I think he kind of got a bit disheartened in the following seasons for us. After all, what was the point in busting a gut chasing down anything that moved and getting the ball back only for us to more often than not, give it away straight away. Put Marv in an effective and effficient midfield that can keep the ball and I get the feeling that under DM, we will see a rejuvenated man. One thing though, I hope that Marv has spent all of the break practicing heading balls in the box on the run. The number of times he gets on the end of these only to head them into the car park or row Z is shocking. I am not bothered about him passing like Xavi, thats not his job - just win the ball and give it to Morris, Skuse etc but if he improved his heading, his goal return would be well into double figures...
'if McDel could find some real footballers who can pass AND tackle, create AND destroy' He'd cost £20 million plus. About the only player who fits your criteria is/was Steven Gerrard in his pomp. Engage reality.
McInnes must know something about Morris to bring him to the Championship Well maybe he does seeing he played at St Johnstone for McInnes, played at Chelsea 124 games, albeit awhile ago, so he has a bit of pedigree. By the way is that the same sunday league as Richard Foster came from.
OK Good point RP However, if you look at the teams that went up last season, they didn't pay £20 million for theirs, and they could pass AND tackle. Whats more, our midfield trio of Gow, Tainton and Mann didn't cost anything, and they could play AND compete Yes, 30 years ago, but teams are still finding these players and prospering (Hull, Blackpool, Norwich, Southampton, yawn) That is reality
They were teammates at Millwall around 2006-2007 but at 33 he only can bring experience to your team tbh.
"but at 33 he only can bring experience to your team tbh" Thats what Blackpool and Brum fans said about Kevin Phillips..
"but worst of all so did we" Very true, our fans said it about both players, but thats because most of them, contrary to their own opinion, know **** all..
I didn't, I wanted them both, I would still employ KP now if for nothing else than as an example of great forward play to our accademy guys...
