Ken Foster taught me at Kingston High - maths if I remember correctly. My old man was in the same class as him at Hull Grammar before the war. When Foster discovered I was my old man's son, he announced to the class what my old man's nickname had been. Naturally, the bastards in my class picked up on it and it remained with me forever. Only one statue was removed for safety from Hull for WW2. You know the one................. but where was it taken before being put back on the original site in 1948?

Sorry for pressing you on this. The answer I was looking for was Sancton and I should have checked that Houghton Hall/Houghton were at Sancton.

My uncle was involved in the removal of the statue and it's relocation. A photo of him and fellow workers unloading the statue is featured in the pictorial book " A Century of HULL." by David Gerrard.
