That is a crock. Injuries happen to all players and it is rare for a player to be 100% fit, they are usually recovering from something or showing some sort of knock or strain.

But didn't you recently sign an injured Carroll on a five year £90k/week deal? He wouldn't have been able to pass a medical at the time either as he was injured and I seem to recall that he was injured for most of the rest of the season.

But now you won't sign Marveaux sighting medical reasons yet he passed a medical with us. I know which story I believe because the Liverpool version doesn't sound true to form.

Accept it something happened during negotiations which he didn't like and you lost him to us.

Carroll didn't have a history of injuries, though. He has had a clean bill of health for most of his career, while Marveaux has missed atleast 10 games a season except for one season.

And no, what doesn't add up is Marveaux had been to Anfield December 2010 to watch us and we were also able to discuss terms with him from January the 1st 2011 onwards. Are you trying to say we couldn't agree terms in over 5 months of discussing yet he still came over for a medical after those 5 months of failed contract negotiations? That just makes no sense at all.

Hmmmmm doesn't look to bad to me except for two seasons, which I doubt are only injury related.

In in soundbite to the french press he says that something happened during negotiations on thursday night which he didn't like. Maybe Liverpool had doubts about his fitness (which I accept is reasonable) and tried to change the terms at the last minute? Can only speculate but it is just as likely. After all would Liverpool have really been chasing him for so long if his fitness was really so cut and dried that they would ultimately reject him.

He's the Telegraphs Merseyside football reporter

yeah and we have one up here as well (chronicle) who's just as right <doh>

you are allowed an opinion i'm all for free speech always have been but i am also allowed a right to reply and my opinion is you didn't come on to discuss a player but to make a piss poor excuse why you didn't sign him
He failed our medical, so it would've been rather stupid for us to sign him after that.
(that doesn't sound like you discussing a player more like why you didn't sign him) god forbid a player turned you down
were you there at the medical, was an official release from your club put on the official site to say this,no someone turned you down who has a past injury record and 2+2 = 5 and we're the deluded ****ers <laugh>

EDIT: no other supporters do this **** bar the red/blue dippers(same **** with gosling) it's like they can't believe that a player would turn them down and dare to join us,so come on our board and talk shyte..... unbelievable

That's what I was saying earlier on mate, we were offering (apparently) 60k a week on a 5 year deal then after the medical we probably significantly lowered the deal or withdrew it while we were deciding what to do with him and Newcastle came in with a bigger or longer contract than we offered after. It could be a massive bullet dodged for us or a massive risk that pays off handsomely for Newcastle, we'll see.

So what, you don't think it would've been stupid for us to offer 60k a week for a man who has a history of not managing to play a full season of games?

That's it though isn't it...Unless you're willing to take risks or you get a new Arabian/Russian owner, gambling is the only way to improve a football team!

On the other hand, the fact he was entirely free, I don't see him as SUCH a huge risk. I very much doubt he'll be getting paid anywhere near 60k at Newcastle and expect us to have handed him an incentive-heavy contract!
