Do you think, even for a second, that Henry would hurry his choice because Whelan asked nicely? I am not saying I like what Whelan is doing, but I do think there is a lack of understanding amongst the Liverpool faithful of the struggle it is for smaller teams when their managers get poached. Losing a good manager can directly lead to relegation for teams like Wigan (and Fulham, although we are slightly better set). I agree that Whelan seems to be half-pushing Martinez out though. Martinez has had his head turned now, so Wigan are probably better getting rid of him ASAP and getting in someone new. But, again, if Liverpool take until July to make a decision like they did with Roy it could be disastrous for Wigan.
Kenny was sacked 11 days ago, there's still 4 days left til the window opens. All Whelan had to do as respectfully as that a decision is made as soon as possible so he too can prepare for the summer with or without his manager. 15days is ample time to decide if Martinez is a suitable candidate. You're putting words into my mouth, by the way. I don't think Henry would hurry his choice regardless of what Whelan says. But I can assume Whelan hasn't asked because the way he's currently going, we'd sure as hell know about it by now.
