I don't think FPP was ever intended to level the playing field between the big guns and the rest, but was intended to protect the smaller clubs against themselves and recklessly going into bankruptcy. It will level the playing field between well run clubs and those that want to spend beyond their means. It was hard on us because we are well run, but would like to spend a bit more to close the gap.
I didn't really mind the original article other than the odd suggestion that we were somehow being too successful. It was like the evidence of our performances didn't quite lead to the statement he wanted to make about FPP. That said, if he had confidence in the article he should definitely have left it at that. It can't have been very well written if everyone thought it meant something other than he intended.
The only thing wrong with the article as has been said above that he insuates that the selling of players year on year is a planned club policy and will continue. It would be quite a small error within the article if it weren't for the fact that the whole article uses this 'club policy' as it base to talk about the other subjects.
I don't think he suggests it will be club policy...he warns of thinking that we can repeat this summer. A bit like telling someone who survives a car crash...Don't crash your car again as you may not survive next time. As if they planned to.
To be fair if that's what he's saying then he's right. You couldn't do what we just done every summer. It would backfire one year and you'd get relegated. Hell I'd even go as far to say that we would be at more risk this year if we hadn't of made such an astute managerial appointnent.
