''Charlton are weighing up a move for QPR midfielder Martin Rowlands. The 32-year-old is surplus to requirements at Loftus Road, having made just four appearances last season.'' A few people on here have mentioned him being worth a punt, injuries might be a worry though. On a side note but is it just me or are both those articles exactly the same word for word ???
I would not he's old, never really rated him, we should be trying to go for people under the age of 27 imo
Agree with the age- but he was always a very good Championship midfielder. If injuries are behind him, then some experience in midfield is always very important. Captain material also.
he would be an EXCELLENT addition if fit. he puts in a shift but is also a cultured ballplayer rowlands hollands....trips off the toungue both in terms of poetic cadence and in terms of on the pitch synergies
Got to agree with Super, regardless of how rubbish Spring was for us, his goal ended our 20something (?) winless streak, and most importantly it was against Palace.
Being on that train from London Bridge to Charlton, having them singing ''sha la la la etc who the **** is laughing now'', then Matty Spring scoring in those opening 20minutes- never shouted for a goal so hard in my life (play off final I was only a kid).
Ahh I'm with you all the way Super That game was for me, my favourite game of the past few years. When the goal went in, there were bodies flying all over the place - people falling down the rows on top of people, it was pure blissful chaos. As for their song, really made me feel great turning it against them after the game "who's ****ing laughing now?"
Make no mistake a fully fit Martin Rowlands even at 32 would set the Championship alight, so god only knows what he'd do in League One... BUT and it’s a BIG BUT... He's not anywhere near fully fit and more than likely never will be… so it's an emphatic "no thank you" from me. He has suffered knee injury after knee injury since 2008, including having to go under the knife for two ACL reconstructions on the same knee…!! Speaking from experience having had six knee operations including an ACL reconstruction and cartilage transplant, I can categorically assure you that as a procedure the ACL reconstruction is no joke (without doubt the most pain I’ve ever experienced in my life). I shudder to think how having two such operations on the same knee would leave the joint feeling… Based on his recent injury record I just don’t see how we can take a punt on him. After all in recent years we’ve lost so many players to injury and carried many passengers who have been out injured long term… Do we need another…?
no thanks for me either the only 30+ players i'd like to see joining us are ex-Premier League players such as Dailly
If not Rowlands, it's essential we get an experienced body in the midfield. Hollands sounds good, but he also sounds like he needs a senior figure next to him giving him a kick up the jacksy.
