Hahaha fair play, just people saying he's not a good manager and no better than Bruce, just think it's daft when he's a better manager than ol' fat head will ever be

I think he'll do well next season but he needs to steady the ship this season.

Short must have promised him money in January and will most likely back him in the summer.

I wonder if Gyan will come back to Sunderland?

His record suggests he knows what he's doing. Don't get me started on Bruce, I've said since the days of 606 when some wanted him as Newcastle manager, that he hasn't the foggiest. Kieron Richardson left back, nothing more needs said.

I doubt it, he's a greedy fecker, why else would he do off to the UAE to begin with? Unless they treble his wages like, which is possible

he will resign if he doesnt get at least 20 million pounds to spend - all he can work with is money

It's too much to suggest that Martin O'Neill is simply a 'cheque-book' manager in the style of Ron Atkinson. <ok>

He certainly spent a great deal of money at Aston Villa but I think that had more to do with the fact he was buying British players - they always cost more but he did buy top quality players.

Ashley Young being the best example from Watford.

Bought Milner for 12. Turned him into a better player and sold him for nearer 30.

for **** sakes. The one manager that I was hoping was going to take the vacant NI post. This is just made Sunderland that little bit tougher to make. MoN is a legend. Love the guy. Going to be hard to hate him and this is a fantastic achievement for Sunderland. Absolutely great manager everywhere he has been

Didn't O'Neill say he wasn't interested in the Northern Ireland job as he wanted to return to club management.

You have to remember this squad has struggled this year and he hasn't got money to change things, also it is more difficult to wheeler dealer in January, even after Liverpool sold Torres for £50 million, to bring in two replacement strikers cost them more.

You sold Carrol for 35 million you got Ba for free, it can work.

And i am hoping this no money is just a smokescreen, everyone knows players cost a premium in January, so saying we have none we may be able to put the price down for some, but we do have a billionaire owner, so there is cash (whether he will spend or not is a different matter) looks like Short could be an Ashley Mark II, just not as loud but the end result is the same :(

Only the next 2 months and the summer will tell though.

Ba came in the summer, if things don't go well for Sunderland that could be too late as you could be in the Championship. As for Ashley Mark II even if he doesn't give you money he has backed managers in the past and you have got to balance the books.

Just so you know it's 'Mike Ashley'. Not Ashley Mark II.

O'Neill's a good man manager, but he's overrated on the whole and he's a flight risk.

Shame about Bruce getting sacked, I was hoping he'd hang onto his job until the next derby. :(

Who the hell did you think we would get Wenger ? Ferguson ? Ancellotti ? he will be better than Bruce who continued to play people out of position and had our heaviest derby defeat in about 50 years with him in charge.
