Can't face thinking about the game so I am distracting myself;

Not a dig (in case Sunderland fans are offended) but I really don't get why he is rated. To be honest I never have.
I was really worried when his name was mentioned in relation to the spurs job a few years back as I honestly think he is massively over rated.

He spent quite a lot at Villa and achieved top 6 finishes which I don't think is particularly good. He has spent quite a bit at Sunderland too and they are shockingly poor. He kind of did well with Leicester but the football they played was pretty ugly a lot of the time and at Celtic he did well but there were only 2 clubs fighting for trophies up there.

His style of football is like stokes and he seems to be tactically at the level of Allydice (excuse spelling) and Pullis...hoof it and play the percentages.

Finally I've seen and read lots of fans and reporters claiming (rightly or wrongly) that Redknapp has ruined Southampton; Portsmouth; Bournemouth and West Ham ... all of whom went into administration and in the cases of West Ham and Bournemouth years after he left.
Yet I have never read anything about how Wycombe; Leicester; Celtic and Villa all experienced serious financial problems after he left them.
Personally I think those who control the financial purse strings at those clubs are the ones responsible...managers ask but do not decide what is spent on transfers and wages...but if RedKnapp is held responsible then so should MON.

Was just wondering what others think.
 
I think O'Neill's problem is that he WAS a good manager. But for him, like Wenger to some extent, he has not evolved his style as the game has changed, but stuck to what always used to work.
 
O'Neill's really underperforming with the players that he's got.
No creativity, no threat and some strange buys too, for me.
The Mackems could be in real trouble after today's failure to take advantage of 10 man Norwich, as they face Man Utd, Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton in their next 4 games.
Then they've got a trip to Villa, who'll be fighting for their lives and they end the season at WHL.

Outside bet for relegation, if you fancy the odds. 4 to 1 is about the best you'll get, though.

This.

He was superb for Celtic and Villa but lets.not forget he took time out of the game to look after his ill wife and doesnt realise his style is out dated.
 
Sunderland had everything go their way today, they got two handball decisions resulting in a penalty and Norwich going down to 10 men early on and the two handball shouts Norwich had fell on deaf ears. It couldn't have gone better for them yet they still couldn't beat Norwich at home(I know, I know). I actually think he's got a really good squad there but he's getting nothing out of them, when you've got a team with the likes of Sessegnon, Mignolet and Johnson to add to the other good/decent players they have there's really no excuse for being in such a poor position.
 
I'm not really interested in O'Neill but I do like Billy Davies at Forest.

Going back to Spurs,regarding managers,I have only seen three successful managers.Namely Arthur Rowe,Bill Nick and Keith B.
We seem to have employed quiet a few duffers in between then and now resulting in some bloody negative football,not to mention results!
Did our directors/owners really know what they were doing employing them?They may have been successful in their own businesses but they knew poo about football management!
 
Hi,I'm a Leicester fan and new to the forum and just thought i would add my opinion on Mr O`Neil.
I was a season ticket holder at Leicester between 93 and 99 and without doubt they were the best years to be a Leicester fan,numerous trips to wembley,european nights and promotion. I think he was unfairly labelled as a long ball merchant as I remember us outclassing/passing numerous teams in what I believe was a relatively strong premier league.One of his other strong points was spotting players,they were mostly from lower league teams and he made them intyo premier class ones.I think his wife's illness over the past few years has caused him to lose some of that passion that made his teams so good and I think you can see this in his press conferences.

His worst error?...when he was at Villa, rejecting Radamel Falcao in favour of Emile Heskey. <doh>
 
It looks like the guy from Newcastle who wanted to punch McManaman's lights out. John Carver? But I guess not many move from Sunderland to Newcastle.

I think the badge on his track suit is Celtic, looks like an away Euro match, I've not seen Nestle KitKat on any PL dugouts.
 
He's propping up the dugout roof from the look of it. It's got to be depressing when you've essentially but put in the dugout as a folded beer mat under the stool solution as opposed to any coaching input.

He's very strong don't you think, not only is he holding the roof up, all those people sitting on top of it aswell.
 
It's John Robertson the ex-Forest winger who along with Steve Walford, has always been a member of O'Neill's coaching staff.

Thats a great spot SC, I should have known, in the same team at Forest! A tragic and harsh story about his daughter.
 
According to wiki she was born with cerebral palsy (the parents believed it was due to delays at birth) and she lived to 13 years of age. Was a quadriplegic all her life.
