Kelly is awesome. Wonder what BR has planned for Danny Wilson though - at Rangers he was player of the year wasn't he?
I think the time for him to make the move to the first team was during Kenny's time but he never really impressed on chances he got, and never got many opportunities to impress either. Like mentioned, he's out of contract in the summer and can see him going back to Scotland.
I could be wrong but I'm sure the bosman ruling only applies that are 23 or older. Of course, if we've not offered a contract then we may be happy with just getting him off the wage bill.
Martin Kelly hit great form under Roy Hodgson and he got injured. He never quite fully returned to his best form since then and he got injured earlier on this season. IMO - he needs to move to CB as his body is clearly not suited to bombing up and down the wings (frequent injuries). In addition, he's not a natural RB and he's not that great at attacking although he is extremely solid defensively. Johnson seems to be struggling and I would like to use Ryan McLaughlin as the backup. He's definitely a fantastic prospect and is the perfect player for the system - fast, can dribble, attack, great crossing and solid defensively.
sort of agree, but we need to be careful about promoting the youngsters too early and they don't progress. the only real success has been Sterling, Suso isn't getting game time and Wisdom not much as well, if they was still playing for under 21 they would both probably be on fire by now and progressing nicely. Coates is another who should be playing for under 21 as well, obvious he isn't getting any chances in first team, but why put him on bench if don't use him, needs game time, we have Agger,Skrtel and Carra fit, baring injuries he is behind all of them, so one of them will be on the bench, pointless!!
well for me ok kelly coming back is nice but he's not really needed this year. let him play a few and work up to fitness with u21s and maybe get preseason under his belt. I agree with jenners was looking at coates on the bench v villa.... RUSTY! coates, suso, sterling, wisdomw. we need to get guys out on real loans!
The only problem is that our squad isn't big enough to just chuck all these out on loan. Also - I don't think loaning out Wisdom is necessary - he looks the part right now. If Johnson or Enrique get injured he is straight in. I wouldn't want him playing one or 2 games per week every week for someone else. Just bleed him in like we are doing.
isn't it? well i would have to wonder.. yes if injury struck thats a good point... but.... wisdom, kelly, coates all cbs.... wisdom, kelly, flanno all rbs I think its more about keeping these guys looking more and more the part than anything.... for example this year for the last say 3 months any/all of them could have gone on loan and not be "missed" seeing we're not in many comps! Suso, shelvey and others certainly should have gone in January on loan. the thing is the american way, especially in john henry's baseball is to have young guys go to the minors etc just precisely for this. its part of development. I would like to see an end of the "push them out" type of loan wilson is on and more of the types of loans that say sturridge or welbeck got at their respective clubs.
I think Robinson and Flanno would benefit from it as they don't make the bench most weeks but Wisdom, Kelly, Coates are our substitutes and we needed them there this season - if we bulk out a bit in the summer e.g. signing a CB and keeping Skrtel then it may be a good idea. Suso and Shelvey would be others we should look at loaning next year as I don't think we will miss them and imo we should be listening to offers for Shelvey if it means we make a few million, nothing really suggests to me he's ever going to be good enough for us.
I don't think we should be looking to fill the back-up spots with these players. We should be looking to have two that compete for the first team spots with youngsters providing a third option. It is then up to these players to force their way into the managers thoughts.
I agree. There should be 2 players for each spot who can rotate with one another without causing any disruption.
Walker has been out of form this season,so far,but the last few games he seem's to be coming out of his bad run
This, think flanno is the next Darby and Mclaughlin is more of the Kelly and Wisdom who show they can do it.
