wonder if he will get a few games in first team at CB before season ends, hope so.

doubt it sadly, Wisdom isn't being given any opportunities either.

wonder what the odds on Carra not retiring will be, don't care personally as don't gamble, but correct me if i am wrong, but wasn't the reason he was retiring as he wasn't getting enough first team football, which he certainly is now, so unless we get the CB's we are after in the Summer, could stay on, be good odds i should imagine for some of you to take a punt.

still think we should give Kelly a run as centre back and Wisdom more game time at RB. Johnson is more inconsistent than he used to be so could probably do with the competition.

    Really like Kelly.

People keep forgetting we have him coming through.

We need to get him back and playing asap.

And Wisdom too. Johnson is underperforming massively at the moment and needs to be dropped imo.

I think Johnson looked more solid at left back this season. Still think he's our best bet at right back but I'd love to see MK or AW given a few games at centre back before the end of the season.

I'm sure a week ago BR was saying that Kelly had no chance of being fit for the end of this season and they were targetting next year?

Agree that I think Wisdom, or possibly Coates should get some games at CB in the league towards the end of the year, especially if we have nothing to really play for.

I hope Carra doesn't stay on another season. Yeah, he's better than Skrtel at the moment, but he's not good enough for a team with top 4 ambitions any more. He needs to accept a role on the bench next year or retire. He can't be a starter. Neither him nor Agger are dominant enough in the air and imo, both need dropping. I'd like to see a monster of a CB come in over the summer to play along side Kelly or Agger - depending on who's playing better. Carra would ideally stay as the 4th pick (if he can accept that) to guide Kelly along becoming the leader at the back.

I'm always amazed at how under rated Kelly is though when it comes to English defenders; the media rave about Smalling, Jones or Walker all the time. I have to admit though, I'm more excited by the prospect of Widsom than Kelly and I think next season could really be the season for him to push on.

I'm more excited about Kelly tbh.

Wisdom is good too but needs to work on his positioning.

I'd like Carra to retire, Skrts and Coates to be sold, resulting in us buying a couple of cb's and promoting Kelly.

Smalling, Jones and Walker are all better than Kelly right now, and were before his injury.

Kelly hasn't been great since Roy left, strangely. He was a lone bright light back then.

Obviously he needs testing at CB, but his technique will probably never be good enough for him to play right back as first choice. Glen is miles ahead in terms of skill and crossing ability.

Don't mean to be overly critical of him - I do like him - but he's always be a bench quality player as a RB, and at CB... who knows?

I don't agree. He has a run in the team and ways playing well before getting injured. Walker name had barely been mentioned at this stage whilst Kelly was getting mentioned for England.

Jones and Smalling are ahead but have had more game time in a better team.

I only think he's behind because of his injury.

There was a period when 90% of fans were calling for Johnson to be dropped as Kelly was performing much better.

Defensively he's a very good right back but he doesn't have that attacking ability that Johnson does and that ability is important in the system we play where the wingers cut in as it gives an option out wide.

His future definitely lies at CB as he has the pace, height and strength to play there, just needs to stay injury free for a while. Playing him at RB (and Wisdom) gives them a good sense of positioning and will help when they move infield later in their career. Remember Carragher started playing RB before he moved to CB and became one of the greatest.

Kyle Walker is simply a much more accomplished player, and has been part of a better club side - Spurs - for a fair while now. He's a better right back. Kelly was mentioned for England because of Roy, surely. Like at the Euros.

I think if Kelly fits in at CB well then he'll be good - he's good in the air and could bring the ball out well.

Didn't Kelly miscontrol the ball and give away a goal at the start of the season v United?

Didn't Walker play a ridiculous passback to Lloris against us allowing Downing to score? Bit harsh picking up on one mistake that he's made. And also I think that wa smore Reina's fault, he came flaping out, missed the ball and it just hit Kelly on the thigh (if that is the one that i'm remembering).

Some Spurs fans have been saying that Walker does make quite a few mistakes each game which is why Johnson is still way ahead of him when it comes to england's RB.

I like Kelly and Wisdom and they can both do a job at right back but I thnk they will both end up as centre halfs for us in the long run. Mclaughlin looks like the best right back prospect we have at the club imo.

I still like Johnson for England, he's very under-rated at international level. Always the scape-goat.

Walker is however, a bracket above Kelly, IMO, and probably always will be. Don't mean to be negative for the sake of it but it's just realism.

Kelly is decent, but for where we want to be, he isn't good enough to be first choice. I'd rather we signed a new centre-back like De Vrij or Dede than play Kelly at centre-back as Skrtel's replacement. Although I do see Kelly's future as a CB/RB utility man.

Can't directly compare Walker to Kelly, one is playing in his prefered position and the other isn't. Play Walker at CB and see how he does. Kelly's playing in his second position and still looked impressive before getting injuries.

Phil Jones is absolute bollocks btw, seriously over rated. I like Smalling though, think he'll be a top player for United and England.

Smalling > Kelly > Walker > Jones for me, assuming all are playing in their prefered position.
