Martial is fan more active than RVN was. Ruud did score the occasional goal from outside the box or had the occasional run at a defence (Fulham as you point out, what a goal that was BTW) but he was at his very best in the 18. Martial looks like he doesn't mind playing centrally or coming from a wide position. Running at and dribbling past players looks like something we will see often.
The thing that sort of ruins the goal for me is the positioning of the keeper. Dreadful! Makes the finish look really tame. RVN is my favourite United player ever. Only player's name I have ever got on the back of a shirt.
I think it's probably still early to know what type of striker he is. Right now, I would compare his style of finish more to Henry. I know he was never our player, but his cool attitude in the 18 is very reminiscent of Henry. We definitely have a gem here as we all watch him develop. No wonder all major clubs were quietly following him. Also remember, he scored some 32 goals in 21 games for Under-17. If he is anything close to that tally at the senior level, we are in for amazing years ahead. Shaw, Martial, Memphis, Damien, De Gea, Herrera and that Amazing Pereira guy!.. All under 25!! Oh yes, I am very excited about Pereira. He needs to be in the squad now already. Overall, I love what LVG is building for us. The next manager would inherit a great team.
