All points taken. However, how does that account for what he managed last season?
We had a big loss of a player, the best we had at holding the ball up field in the whole squad. That was Willock. He held it long enough for support to arrive. We don't have anyone who can do that now which is vital in this formation

Didn't he let 2 strikers go and bring in Celar though ?
You think Marti is in control of those things? These are Nourry calls. Armstrong had to go, Dykes was an odd one but almost unanimously people said he wasn't good enough anyway. Only having two senior strikers, one with little championship experience and the other with none is admittedly mad though. But you can't blame the manager for that.

And yet Nhaki Wells is still knocking them in with regularity...

If the manager has no input whatsoever in who we bring in, what's the point in having one ? I don't see anything magical tactically wise or in superb man management. We might just aswell appoint a puppet( yes Kiwi, I'm looking at you ). Reckon the Wellington wrongster would do a decent job myself !

me steelsy uber and wherever couldnt do a worse job of it at the moment

Lest we forget, the view of a large majority on here was that Armstrong was not good enough to play for us and that Dykes was a good team player but couldn't hit a barn door. from 5 yards away. Celar has indeed been disappointing so far but I can't help feeling that he's not been given that much of a chance so far. As for Willock, I'm afraid I'd lost patience with him. Being able to hold the ball up for the 10 minutes per game he could be bothered was not a good enough reason to give in to his demands.

Oh I agree, the club shouldn't give in to players demands, especially if it's going to break the structure. Willock however is the key player we are missing from the back end of last year. His hold up play was better than anyone we have now and without any pace up top, that becomes vital.

I wasn't bothered by Willock leaving. He's not that fussed about being a footballer, quite clearly. Just wants to pick up the pay checks.

With regards to strikers... in the last game, Celar received ZERO passes where he was facing goal and anywhere near a shooting position. Our strikers very rarely receive a ball facing goal anywhere near their goal. THAT's the problem, not necessarily the strikers themselves.

What makes you say that? I don't know willocks circumstances but there's little loyalty in football nowadays, it's just a job, people will generally work for the most money offered to them. As for Celar, I agree, we create absolutely **** all for anyone who goes up front. There are numerous reasons for this but Celar is ****.
