I think this transfer window has shown more so than ever before how little the press know about the real goings on at football clubs. The Daily Star repeatedly publishes exclusives that quite probably have no factual basis whatsoever. A few days ago they said that United were in advanced talks to sign Ronaldo. The reality is probably more like a catch up call between Fergie and Ronaldo.

Fergie: When are you going to come back to United Cristiano?
Ronaldo: Later gaffer, I like Madrid and the sunshine for now.

The manager said yesterday we're closer to make a signing, Fellaini was left out of Everton's squad yesterday to play Real Betis.

He reported to the club. Has a cut to his ankle and was unable to play for Everton.

<laugh> And what? What does that prove? Roberto Martinez said: "Marouane would have been available if it was a competitive game...He picked up a cut on the US tour. Bearing in mind he has to join the Belgium squad now - and in two days the infection will clear. I didn't want to risk hurting him."

He could end up at OT and tbh I'm surprised he hasn't already but just because he wasn't playing doesn't mean he's about to leave Everton. I mean just because Rooney has failed to play in the recent Utd matches doesn't mean he's leaving soon despite the interest of Chelsea and others. If you believe Roberto is lying to cover up a transfer then you must believe the same of DM.

I don't but there's far too much speculation for this not to happen, i can see us signing him this week.

I believe he could sign but tbh there has been more speculation around Rooney going than Fellani arriving.

True, its strange though, Fellaini has played in every game for everton in their pre-season but was left out due to a cut in his heel.

Yeah cause he may have been actually injured. Like I said I can see him at OT sooner rather than later and at the same time Baines IMO will not be joining us.

Edit - meant Baines not joining us <laugh>

If he wanted him I don't see why he didn't sign him when his exit clause was still valid, you could have bought him for £23.5m 2 weeks ago, now his clause has expired the asking price will be £30m+.

I don't think anyone outside of both clubs and Fellaini's agent really knows, the press have said it's both expired and it hasn't so the truth is, they don't know.

With regards to us signing him, I wouldn't be too thrilled, he wouldn't be a bad signing but he's not a defensive mid, he's an attacking mid, we already have Kagawa, Anderson, Giggs, Cleverley and probably Rooney who play thier, we don't need another one. Fabregas made more sense because he can play very well from deeper, although he isn't a DM either he doesn't need to play just off the striker to get the best from him which I get the impression is the case with Fellaini.

The other reason is it will open up talk that the only players Moyes can get are his old players, and that's not a great thing either.

Fellaini is a good player, but I don't think he's the missing piece that some people do. We need someone to play either behind Carrick allowing Carrick to link the DM to the AM or infront of Carrick and being that link leaving Carrick to be the DM becase Carrick can do either of those tasks but he's the only really good option we have for either of them. Anderson and Cleverly play their sometimes but their better going forward and Kagawa is defenitely an AM so we hat's where we are lacking imo.
