Correct, I forgot about him, I would suggest, we wouldn't get that back for him present or Diedhiou. What it does prove that is that value for money in the market had become a thing of the past, perhaps the pandemic and it's affect on football might bring more sense to the game.
To be honest, I think the decision to hopefully get Diedhiou to sign a new contract is probably a very sound decision, given how much even now strikers are valued at in football. Especially when you see the value that Barnsley put on Woodrow, a striker who failed with us on loan. What is more of a worry I would say is that with all of the talent coming through the academy, we seem to be lacking in up and coming strikers.
I tend to agree. For a professional footballer plying his trade in the second tier of English football his first touch is often awful and as Jiffie says, he doesn't seem to want to make intelligent runs. Unless of course he was coached not to...…
Heaven forbid anyone would want to exaggerate his cv. But let’s be honest in Johnson’s time at BCFC his signings of strikers was hardly a huge success was it? Here is part of his striker rap sheet. Woodrow Djuric Eisa Engall Leko And who could forget Monsieur Diony, who would have cost us 10mil, had actually been successful.
I always rated Djuric to be fair, he was very good every time he was called upon, just injured all the time. Mo Eisa scored 14 in League One after leaving us. Leko was more of a winger I think but still played a lot in the Championship before doing his ACL. Comes back to what I always said about LJ. I think the recruitment was largely good and the squad is better than it looks. But he just consistently failed to get the best out of certain players, or use the tools available to him. Eliasson, Walsh, Palmer, Szmodics, Benkovic, Moore, Adelakun... the list goes on.
