He was pretty good at Colchester and, if I recall correctly, is a good striker of a dead ball. The Middlesbrough move was a mistake and I doubt anyone much has shone at Sheffield United in recent years. So he seems like one of those players who started promisingly but lost his way somewhat. In his early days at the club, this is just the sort of signing that Boothroyd would make (and make work, i.e. Marlon King, Matt Spring, Clarke Carlisle). Given that I thought he'd be nearer 30 it's good to hear that he's only 26: experienced but far from over the hill. I can't say I'm massively enthused but we did need bodies and, in particular, cover in attacking positions. He fits the bill, even if £300k does seem quite a large fee given our circumstances.
I believe Ryan goes all the way 4 times a day! Seriously though, this could be a good signing for us. Time will tell - although he hasn't agreed terms so he could end up signing for someone like Charlton!
He then signed a loan contract until the end of the 2006â07 season with another Championship side, Leicester City. He scored on his Leicester debut at the Walkers Stadium in a 1â1 draw with Luton Town.
i won't take this as read until we know for sure, we know how these things can go at the last minute!
Well at least the club are trying to bring people in ! Proving Mr B`s comments that they want five more!
