I stopped myself from responding to Lucaas post for fear of inflaming the situation but you've summarised it nicely. It's like he is saying its wrong, but not that wrong. In my mind its black or white there is no grey area on something like this.
Two myths abound about Liverpool fans, and about Liverpool people in general. One is the "alright, mate" happy chappy, heart of gold, salt of the earth blah, blah. The other is the work-shy layabout waiting to nick your wallet. I've lived here for a few decades now. Liverpool fans I know totally condemn the Halsey tweets and the 'plane gestures towards United fans. The Heysel disaster is like Liverpool's Third Reich moment as far as they are concerned. I was chatting to a good mate on Monday morning who was bemoaning the Reds' current plight. I mentioned the bad stuff, and how it felt even more inappropriate in the light of Hillsborough. His response was that the perpetrators were "f***ing dickheads" and you could guarantee that they had no idea what it means to lose something more important than a "footie match, even if it is against United"! In other words, Liverpool FC have no selection criteria for their fan base, and so like Southampton FC or any other club has its moron element. Incidentally, for those travelling up here Saturday be prepared to meet proper Scousers in every guise. As Blues love to tell you, Everton is the Liverpool team. No Essex Blues, mate!
