Gower's been with us since we came up from League 1 . Knows everything about our structure & can be dropped into any midfield position late in the game . To much value not to have him on the bench . Keep in mind his value on the pitch improved with every season & manager . He deserves to be in the squad on the bench & that's were he will be , come game 1 IMO . Cheers people !!

According to most Cardiff fans , Swansea needed better players to get out of the Championship last season , guys like Bellamy Lol !!

I've got quite a mixed opinion on Gower, tends to change depending on the weather!

I'll try to summarise my view though. Gower is a good player with experience of the game and our system in particular. That said, he isn't irreplaceable and would be below average in the Premiership. BUT, with that said as well he did improve a lot this season, and if that happens again then he may just be very important to the club. Gower would sit comfortably on the bench next season and do a job when he is needed.

Gower started 37 League games last season & was a sub in 5 . Was a bit of a struggle to try to make the remaining 4 or so league games aber , but nobodies perfect !!

i have to agree with aber unfortunately. whilst it would have been nice to see some of the players given the chance. thing is some arent quite good enough. Gower at 33 has probably just had his best season, but it would hae been downhill next season. saying that he would still be good enough for the championship.
who ever signs him will have a tidy player. if he goes, thank you for your sevice and good luck.

the thing is that we do need a certain amount of back up players who can play our style. its very wrong of us to get rid of some of these players especially players like gower, we have to be very careful that we leave enough players for cover or we could end up in trouble if we have a few injuries at the same time.

Gower is by no means my favourite and there was a time a couple of seasons back when I wish he wasn't on our books but he's proved his worth to the team in the last year in particular though towards the end we could see that Brendan was favouring Leon ahead of him. Age isn't on his side and with the prem league a very unforgiving place we need someone who can win and retain the ball so I can see him getting less and less game time provided we have Joe, Leon and Ferrie available.

Can't see it happening, he has a year left on his contract so doesn't need to go anywhere

I dont think he is going anywhere, not for £150k anyway. Think he will play this one season in the premiership then either retire or then go lower league after at least giving the premiership a shot. I think he will do a good job for us, whether that be starting or bench will depend on who we bring in

reality check time for players and fans alike, some players are simply not good enough for the Prem, benchwarmers in the Champ come to mind

Thing is musty if they have a contract we either must abide by it, pay them off or sell , whether they are good enough is besides the point

I think for half an hour to keep the midfield ticking over he'd be good enough, especially with how well he knows our system.

Wouldn't get enough cash to even make it interesting - his value is in himself and the effort and energy he will bring to the squad. Did everybody notice the fire in him when he came on at Wembley - this guy doesn't mess around. Can he be competitive in the Prem - who is to say - but I'd bet on him giving it everything he has and then some.
