I'm constantly getting Francomb and Steer the wrong way round, I have absolutely no idea why, I think it's because they are from that class of youth players.
Take out the words ' to QPR ' and you've got it in one!!! I can understand that Bunn signing could be a good deal for Norwich as it gives them experienced cover and could be a good career move for Rudd and Steer if that gives them game time on loan but I cannot understand how it is a good career move for Bunn if Ruddy stays or why CH considered experienced cover a priority when he obviously needs another striker and money is already tight because of earlier signings. Money from a good player sale would, however, give him wider scope in the hunt for a new striker.
The point is that Bunn has not come to be "an understudy" to JR, but to be in direct competition with him. Rudd in contrast has never been more than an understudy. IMO this is an excellent signing. If Dave Watson had thought Rudd was ready to be our No.2, Bunn would not have been brought in.

i've just come back from a meeting where they had talkshite on in the office - they had some south american expert on and he said pretty much what i did about cesar and more! he said that he's totally lost it and is unlikely to ever get it back... and he's injured, permanently

I also don´t see anything particularly wrong in this, Ruddy does need some real competition, because at the moment if he´s fit, he plays. Both Rudd and Steer need to be playing games rather than just warming the bench, and this is an ideal chance for them to do that now. I think I trust Dave Watson and Hughton over this.
It wasn't what I expected to be the next piece of transfer news. We have to assume our ever increasing back room staff know their priorities. But I think goalkeeper is probably the one spot in the team where there is not much competition. If you are the incumbent you have to have a bad run to be ousted. Unless you are a Teflon Aussie. That said, a reserve keeper isn't going to get much game time with the lack of real competitive reserve football.

I think we've been lucky to get a keeper so good willing to play second fiddle for the price frankly. You have to understand we are in a unique situation having two excellent young goalkeepers. This signing is an investment in their future, because I think they'll both turn out to be very good goalkeepers.

sorry, but some people have completely failed to see the logic behind signing him. no problem if people disagree with buying another keeper but the reasons they are giving, ie we already have three keepers, or ruddy is being sold or ruddy won't be playing second fiddle is failing to decipher the reasoning behind such a move. robbie pointed it out correctly.
Adeyemi is off on loan and Bennett is 22. We had some discussion earlier about Smith and Francomb as they are already either just 21 or shortly 21. The concensus seemed to be that the way the rule was written neither would count at least for the August squad. Rudd and Steer are definately underage which seems to leave us with 26. Interesting.
I have said this so many times that it is becoming boring. I can understand why it is a good move for NCFC and, in the long run, a good move for Rudd and Steer. What I can't get my head round is why Bunn would come here for 2 years as deputy for Ruddy - if Ruddy is not sold - when he would have been 1st choice for Blackburn within the next 12 months if he had stayed where he was. I'm sorry Supers but I just don't see why he would consider it a good career move.

He was born on 6th March 1990. You can play a number of overage players in the U21's.
simple. he hasn't come here to sit on the bench - he's come here to be number one. he'll believe he is able to prove to our manager and coaches that he's good enough to be our number one. he's a good age for a keeper, similar to ruddy and he's undoubtedly got ability. he'll be working with the england keeping coach and his confidence will be high after his move. any mistake from ruddy or impressing in training more than our current number one could result in him getting the gloves. ruddy has had nobody breathing down his neck - that's now changed so both keepers will up their games.

i think he meant the england under 21s as opposed to our development squad
