I know what you mean. I remember watching a drama about Thatcher and the Falklands War a few years ago and they made her out to be some troubled, at war with herself, 'I don't want to go to war but I have no other choice', caring woman and all I could think was "does the person who wrote this know anything about the crazy old bitch?"

True but I would have thought the class and integrity and undoubted acting skills of Meryl Streep would have given authenticity to the film. I read an article by the keen cyclist Tebitt and he was saying it was nothing like Thatcher which led me to believe that it would be a good honest portrayal because he was blind as to what she was like. Just like all the other sycophants in the Cabinet until Tarzan got in a strop.
It was actually true. Too much myth surrounds Thatcher in the U.K. Just like Kennedy in America. She was no better or worse than most other Prime Ministers she just knew how to play people.
Some of the things written on this thread about dear old Maggie are absolutely disgraceful. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Show some respect for the greatest post world war 2 leader we have had. I'm so grateful to have been alive at the time of her premiership to have had the privledge of being a British citizen at a time of such great leadreship. Maggie, Seb Great etc etc etc....
