I was a bit surprised that he is being released, but didnt realise he is nearly 22. As others have said he is not going to feature for us, so better he finds something which suits his level.

What a weird profile. He has a picture with Danny Clarke that says "legend calling me @northferribyutd number 1 fan" and yet his profile says:

Chemistry student at Uni of Huddersfield.
Member of the HULL FC FAITHFUL #COYH.
    Support ManU & Dortmund.
    Do GOOOALLLL updates for @northferribyutd

    FERRIBY OR THE KC!!

Why does Ferriby sit so far down his profile?

It's so funny, he's probably the worst footballer down there but he orders his team mates around like nobody's business. He plays ina Dortmund shirt sometimes, so that answers my next question. He suppports FC and Man U, sounds like every kid from Hull I ever went to school with.

To be fair that sounds like me. I'm unashamedly absolutely ****e at football, always have been but I just didnt know it when younger. On the flipside I like to think I have a good understanding of the game and can see what should be done by players who are much, much more talented than me but don't see what should be done. So I tell them what to do and it makes the team better.

I wish I'd realised sooner that i was absolutely **** and taken up coaching at 17 or something.

I know what you mean, I can get a bit frustrated at my team mates if they don't do a certain thing when it's painfully obvious they should've done it (hammering the ball out of play when a simple pass back to the keeper is enough, that's a favourite of ours at the moment). I had a go at managing the team last week and we won 5-2, the smugness was so severe I was admitted to hospital.

I tweeted yesterday about the lads being released and questioned if we'd ever see an academy lad reach the first team, I just got this tweet in response...

    Jonathon Margetts ‏@JonoMargetts

    Our academy's totally ****
It needs an indoor 3G pitch
    The airco would make
    A facility so great
That would pull our youth team out the ditch

What does he think needs changing? Higher academy status? Or is it a dig at our coaches?

Well lets hope he rams it back down their throats. But if it was so poor at City he shouldnt have signed his last contract, he shoulda took a chance on finding a club when he was 18 or 19.

Facilities are one thing, coaching is another, but I just think we don't take these lada seriously at all.

Conor Townsend is 22. He's played well in the SPL and in Leagues 1 and 2. He might not be PL standard, we don't know, but he's obviously got something about him. Yet our OWS specifically declares him as a development squad player, the same as 18 year olds out of the academy who've never played a professional game.

Everyone talks about this gap between 18 and 22 but no one does anything about it. Treat them like adults and let them develop. Having them train separately to the first team and play all their matches at a school is just small time as ****.

Shows how difficult it is if Man City arent producing the young uns either.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ng-players-academy-talent-isn-t-standard.html
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted his club will have to buy young talent because the Academy's youngsters are not ready for first-team action.

Liverpool star Raheem Sterling has already had his name linked with the defending Premier League champions after his contract stalemate at Anfield.

Part of the pressure on City to land fresh young talent comes from FA chairman Greg Dyke's proposal to increase the quota of homegrown players to 12 in Premier League squads.
And, with the Blues having failed to produce any regular homegrown first team squad members since Micah Richards and Dedryck Boyata, Pellegrini admits the short-term answer to the need for the new talent does not lie within the squad.

Pellegrini said: 'I think about the Academy, we must be patient. This club build all these things because young players are important.

'Maybe it's not so easy for young players, especially at big clubs, to play in the first team, with the professional squad.

'I'm sure in the future we will have very important players coming from the Academy, they will be part of the squad.

'But it's important to be patient, important to have years of

The chances are the crop coming through there will mostly end up at teams like us, they're struggling to create world class talent, our requirements aren't quite so high. There's no reason we can't create players for our own level and we shouldn't duck from the challenge.

If this academy upgrade goes through, it would be absolutely massive for us, specially if we get relegated.

Didn't see that one coming, I didn't think he'd made the impact Bruce had expected him to make, I'd be keen to see what the Alloa fans make of him, he's only made two appearances since joining in January. Pennock really rates him, but I'd have expected him to have at least broken into the Alloa first team, especially since they're a part time side and struggling near the bottom of the Scottish Championship.

I just wonder if it's something to do with him being a Bruce signing, because Margetts wasn't and he got let go, despite looking the better all round player.

On the subject of Margetts, his loan with Cambridge was supposed to last until the end of the season; does anybody have any idea why it was cut short? Was it because he was released by us or because they didn't want him?
