In theory, he should be playing against our very own Cabaye and Arsenal's Gervinho? Was too busy watching him to look for them...He looks steady and composed, but can't tell TOO much from the video!

We desperately need another centre back, why do people get so pessimistic about losing Colo when a move for a CB has been on the cards for months? Not aimed at you tash, just that opinion has been aired a lot of times and I think it's unnecessarily pessimistic.

If he's saying he doesn't want to be cover that doesn't necessarily make him a replacement, could just be competition. Better to have players vying for a place in the starting XI each week than a set XI and anyone else merely being cover.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, being linked to a CB is by all means a good thing and obviously if he's better than Saylor or Colo then he's gonna be playing ahead of them. The replacement theory is always there though!

Colo wants to stay as far as we all know, so it's all good anyway.

Isn't that how it should be though? A player would be a fool in this day and age to restrict himself to only wanting to play for one club, because the likelihood of that happening is slim to none. Instead you should want players who want to play, and will love whatever club gives them the opportunity to do so. The good thing about buying players from France or Holland is that the wages are so much lower there that whatever we offer will be buckets more than what they were making anyway - so they won't be as easily swayed by silly money offered elsewhere (tentatively using Tiote and Cabaye as examples of this)

Personally, I think Nedum Onuoha would be a good shout, can play right back and centre back plus knows the PL very well already!

see the press today are saying he's a replacement for colo

some random info on him as well

Yanga-Mbiwa started out as a right-back and has more recently played as a centre-back, which is the sort of versatility managers like. He’s been at Montpellier for his entire footballing career and has also notched up 8 appearances for France’s under-21 team. Arsenal were linked with the player, who is contracted with Montpellier until June 2013, at the end of last season.

    ‘Transfermarkt’ values him at £5.3m

He's always reminded me of a poor mans Micah Richards, which isn't really that bad.

I actually think, if you take this season out of the equation, that he is better than Richards? He is disgustingly fast and pretty solid player generally, he is also 24 so fits our transfer policy. Less of a gamble than Yanga-Mbiwa IMO
