Even Fergie was up dancing about it and was the first one to take his hand after he went into the box.

when i saw the replay he didn't actually hit the keeper. he just sort of leathered the ball at close range. it looked bad i n real time but i'd have been disappointed had one of our strikers not challenged for the ball in a similar situation.

Sorry but the replay clearly showed that he kicked the keeper's right forearm and made absolutely no contact with the ball.

I want strikers to challenge for the ball in those situations but Defoe knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

Definitely thought from the replays Defoe kicked the keepers wrist or arm.

Thought Smalling & Jones had cracking games, so did Anderson, not just his goal but he covered his back four well and made some timely interceptions. Also thought Cleverley did well until Giggs replaced him, Giggs showed in that final 10 mins why Fergie still picks even at the age of 112. Giggs made challenges, set up Rooney and looked really lively doubt he can do it for 90 minutes any more though.
Spurs were definitley understrength though, lots of players missing through injury so hardly their best 11.

Would have been 23 I'd have thought. Jones, Smalling, Cleverley & De Gea are very young.

Reporter called Rooney the daddy of them all and he's only 25. Jesus it's scary, what are they going to be like at their peak.

i thought cleverly did alright but i was calling for the giggs substitution earlier as i thought they needed a bit more guile alongside anderson.

That really is impressive. Looks like SAF has worked his magic again....................I can't stand the bloke but have to admit that he is a genius.

Man United didn't look that great against a poor Spurs side. Only when Spurs had to go for it and had Van der Vaart in CM. Tottenham were toothless up top. Defoe is a terrible player and i'm glad we haven't made a move there.

Man City look more impressive than Man United in my opinion.

Excellent game of football and Spurs were every bit as good as them up to the goal. Neither side at full strength but both have the depth to put out very good sides. I don't Harry needs much but I could see a situation where three go and three come in simply because he can't ****ing help himself! Spurs looked an excellent side I'd imagien they'll go well again. But Man U were something else when they went up a gear after the goal. Welbeck is fantastic. Great for England of course. Cleverley looks a good player too. Young was pretty poor for an hour and then just went into overdrive, he is gonna be some player for them. Can't see past Man U at all having watched them last night. Their system is just so well drilled.

This, when they were attacking against Bolton they seemed a different class. Silva, Aguero and the confident Dzeko look like the best forward 3 in this league right now.

So far we are the only team who haven't conceded. Make of that what you will.

Wellbeck looked really good last night, no wonder the Mackems wanted to keep him.

    Rooney also looked sharp.
