Did he actually murder anyone? Genuine question.
I suppose the real question is at what point is it ever justified to protest agaisnt the way you're being treated through violent means?
 
He is to be lauded as much for what he done before going to Jail and what he done when he got out.

My point re a murdered was in general... you simply cannot wipe the slate clean for past crimes.

Does that not depend on how extreme the injustice towards you is though Pud? Let's say a Muslim became Prime Minister in the UK and then decreed that there would be an appartheid system where non muslims were distinctly second class and even sub human and did not get the vote. Would it not be justifiable for people to try and bring down that government by foul means guiven that doing it fairly was out of the question?

Going by your logic the Germans who tried to kill Hitler by blowing him up during the war were terrorists, murderers and criminals.
