Not at all, it's good to have an informed opinion (I won't say "for a change" ) I guess it shows the power of the press doesn't it? Everyone else has the impression City fans are losing patience with him, if that's not the case then the press have a lot to answer for (as I'm sure Wenger would agree as well!)
Can't say I'm bothered by Di Canio. A horrid person, irritating attention seeking manager, who achieved success with the pre-season favourites having spent more than most of L1. Bye Paolo.
And yet I like him. I know he has the issues which, if accurate, are totally objectionable, but he's got the huge passion that only a crazy Italian [I'm half Italian, so I can say this ] seems to possess. And another thing, the Swindon Town fans absolutely loved him. Now where have we had that situation before..?
He's certainly a entertaining character, but not my cup of tea. Be interesting to see what Swindon do without him.
Fair enough. By the way, I thought your fans were very decent down at St Marys. The fans of other top teams tend to spit the dummy when things go wrong, but I felt yours were very humble. That song you sang in the 2nd half for about 20 minutes was very amusing. I won't lie, I hate your manager, but good luck all the same for the rest of the season. I think you'll need it.
Leagues gone but still got a good chance in the FA cup with utd or Chelsea going out It's only 10 years since we were playing Bournemouth in the league so it does no harm to get brought back down a peg every now & again like the hiding we took at st Mary's The song " we never win at home and we never win away" was from the year in the 3rd tier, getting beat away at Lincoln and has been a bit of an anthem in adversity ever since
The full transcript from the Wenger interview, plus a load of non-televised stuff for the print media afterwards is here, for anyone who's interested: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/feb/18/arsene-wenger-arsenal-transcript It's interesting to read the full thing I think, gives a somewhat different impression, and the answers to questions like "you seem angry", talking about the reason he was so annoyed, are quite illuminating. Having said that it can't be good to have a whole press conference turning into an examination of the manager's alleged paranoia!
As TSS says above that the Swindon situation sounds familiar, I would say the same on your comment. We were saying exactly what you have said r.e. Adkins and Saints. We were fully behind our manager but the CEO decided a change was needed. I see a large similarity at City where maybe Mancini has run his course and taken the club as far as he can. Next step is to put in place a manager that can take what Mancini has started and turn City into a consistent, stable perrenial challengers. To my eyes at the moment you have Utd on their own and Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Man City are all in that 'limbo' stage where they have the foundations of a great side but are just short. With Man City itis in my eyes the manager, With Arsenal if they can keep their squad together and add 1 or 2 they will be there. With Chelsea and Spurs it is more a lack of quality in the depth of their squad. Great first 11's but the backup isn't so good. Hopefully Siaints will be in that 'limbo' stage sometime in the next 2.5 years otherwise our CEO will bring in a manager he thinks can move on from wherever Pottecino gets Saints to. p.s. I was at that Lincoln v Man C game. 4-1 was at Maine Road for the 1-0 double too
Mancini is such an utter knob. Anyone in the world can be a half decent manager if they manage a team that is willing to sink hundreds of millions of dollars on transfers . How about he takes a go in charge of a lower league side with next to no money, and then see if he can still thinks he's the best manager in England. In fact! Save Poor ol' Portsmouth from relegation this season, then he would be the best manager in England!
Can't find it in myself to criticise di Canio for buying success....we weren't exactly financially strapped in League 1.
