Doesn't dismiss arsenal87s point that the Dutch league is weaker than the top 5 European leagues or that players don't usually cost that much from the Dutch leagues, not even suarez
Doesn`t mean the player is weak just because the league is though, the cost is relative to how many teams are chasing a player.
Ill say it now, and next season you can all come back to quote and bow before me, this guy will not be the answer United are looking for. Just like Dimaria hasnt been. Di Maria is 10 times the player this guy is, and many were saying United didn't actually need him, and turned out to be true, the fact he turned into a flop though is another amusing side story lol.
It took years to mould RVP into a world class striker, not one season, it was in the latter stages like in 2010 onwards that he started hitting top top form. Now hey if you're willing to wait 5-7 years until this guy finally comes super good, for 30 million, then be my guest, and oh yeah, 30 million you spent vs our 2.5 million, I guess that point went waaaaay over your head.....as most things usually do, I won't hold it against you.
Are you real? We are not looking for one player to be "the answer" (not everyone can have Ozil), we are looking to rebuild a team with many different pieces which will form "the answer"
Nope, we won`t wait 5-7 years. We will use him in his best position instead of trying to turn him into a striker. Prices have changed a lot over the last 10 years, why do you use euro`s for one and pounds for the other?
What is real? Is this real? is the touch you touch and the sound you hear real, or a programme you are inserted into?
Why the hostility??? Jesus H Christ people. Calm the **** down. Man utd have bought a talented young player who many people have been raving about. The reality of Utd situation is that they are rich and struggling a bit and people know this. So yes they will pay have to overpay for players. But i still think they have got a player who has the potential to be WC. Spending 25-30mn pounds on that type of player is a gamble but not a huge one in todays market. If he settles in and lives up to his potential then he will be a fantastic capture if he doesn't it will be an expensive flop. That being said with Theo's future having question marks + (pod/joel/sanogo) leaving i would have been very happy to get Depay at Arsenal. Lets see how it plays out. But seriously all of you calm the **** down.
He's a good player. 30 Million? Not for me but as you said its a gamble. But I do like riling up the United fans on here
I agree with Arsenal87 though that we need to strengthen other areas of our team more than our attackers and it's a similar story for you guys, I made that comment in the other thread (Ending of the season). It's more a 'nice to have' signing rather than a critical area being strengthened, and I fully expect LVG to buy a defender and central midfielder. One note on Depay though, I feel that he does offer something that most of our other attacking players/wingers don't and that's a goal threat. You guys don't have that problem as you have always had a few goalscoring attackers and midfielders (Sanchez, Walcott, Ramsey, Ox) and Chelsea obviously have Hazard. But the majority of our wingers (post-Ronaldo and to a lesser extent the uber inconsistent Nani) aren't much of agoal threat and are more creators than scorers: Mata, Valencia, Young, Januzaj... As Rooney and RVP get older it will help if we can get a number of goals from out wide, and we'll need his pace. An added bonus is that LVG knows him well so he will probably trust him a lot more than some of our other wingers and get good performances from him. Of course an added thought is that he might be converted to a striker and be LVG's long term replacement for RVP and eventually Rooney.
Don't forget Liverpool signed Suarez , Man Utd signed Van Nistelroy and without looking I'm sure Chelsea signed Robben all from the Dutch League. Those three weren't too shabby
Meh, all 3 of them were far worse than some of our signings from the French league; Sonogoals, chamack, being 2 recent examples.
We will still finish above you, and when we do, this thread is going to be so much fun. And as usual, you will go all quiet, you only sing in good moments.
I don't even know what's to laugh about, top 4 is secured, we are still in the driving seat for automatic qualification to Europe and to end above you, AND also have a cup final to look forward to, which btw we beat you on the route to the final, scored by your very own Mancunian Welbeck, I guess you are desperate though.
