van Persie out injured then, and for a few weeks.

Right now I can only see this as a good thing. I hope he now plays Rooney as centre forward, with Mata at ten and the option of Fellaini as ten. Option being the critical word.

CM partnership of Blind and Herrera and Di Maria and Young either side of Mata et voila.

A settled back four wouldn't go amiss too. Rojo and Jones at CH with Valencia and Young either side.

    Falcao in goal.

Prepare yourselves for the unexpected. This is LVG we are talking about ..:bandit:

We will probably struggle in this match too. But as long as we get 3 points I don't care about that or formations and where Rooney ****ing plays.

We will struggle again if van gaal keeps playing his style. Fans have condemned the 3-5-2 and now he is playing 4-4-2 diamond, but in reality he is still playing 3-5-2 with blind becoming the 3rd center back and the full backs becoming wing backs. Van gaal just doesn't want to play with natural wingers, so we are still stuck with Valencia providing width on the right and shaw on the left, wtf is wrong with van gaal? We have a world class winger in di maria, play him as one.

Today I would like to see di maria on the right, young on the left, falcao up front and Rooney /Mata behind him, blind and Herrera in midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Fellaini should not be a starter, he should be a plan B when things are not going right.

But then I'm sure van gaal will play 4-4-2 diamond again (still 3-5-2 technically), pack players in the middle and create less chances. He should be sacked or we risk missing out on top 4.

That wouldn't reduce the risk would it ? Whoever had come in would have found the task difficult. He has been given objectives. Let's see whether he achieve them or not. If he doesn't he'll be sacked. Guaranteed.

For me if he manages to get a CL place (however he achieves that), that's success.

Everybody knows van gaal is not doing well and he has only lasted this long because of his CV. He has refused to play the players according to their strength just because of his stewpid philosophy. Do u really think di Maria, falcao, Rooney, van persie, Mata all can become ineffective all at once? We know players do lose form, but when all ur world class players lose form all the the same time then something is wrong with the management.

Last season we complained we are tired of valencia , nani and young being our wingers. Now we bought di Maria but funny enough Valencia is still the one providing width from the right playing as a full back. Van gaal has failed.

Yes I have. If u watch closely when van gaal plays 4-4-2, the wing backs are still the wingers and blind drops back to become the 3rd center back. He is still playing 3-5-2 but just a more dynamic one with blind playing holding midfield /3rd center back.

Why can't he just play 4-2-3-1 especially in away games ?

Some strikers are better used as a lone striker where they get enough service for left, right and center. Our strikers don't get enough service, rvp and Rooney haven't done s lot better than falcao tbh. Rooney plays better when he is playing behind one striker (not behind 2 strikers and not in central midfield ). That one striker got to be falcao or rvp. I would still choose falcao ahead of rvp.

Rooney isn't going to score as many goals in a deep midfield role is he?

Rooney plays better behind one striker (not behind 2 strikers, and not in deep midfield either, blame van gaal for that ). Playing 2 strikers and a number 10 behind them leaves a hole in midfield, and lots of traffic in the middle leading to too many side passes and limits chance creation.

The option we have is for Rooney to play behind either falcao or rvp. I would still choose falcao ahead of rvp.

Or for Rooney to play up top with Mata behind.
