Massive cracks jus got papered over today. The current Utd team have big glaring problems, and we all know that deep down.
great win but sure what is obvious is that we need a - better attack than sitting at the b back if we look useless at the back regardless how many mid you commit back - we need world class CB to play alongside Vidic or guide players when vidic is out - we need an RB who can defend and attack, I can see why Rafeal is not good option facing tall Stoke players but Smalling offered nothing when we needed player to commit attacking wise and give us solutions - if Moyes like to play with 2 CM at back, then sure Cleverly is not the answer in such narrow games facing strong sides, we need creative CM then
How many games did UTD win last season when we were poor? Plenty is the answer, so I blame Ron Atkinson for not buying in quality players
Another ultra positive, confidence inspiring post match quote from the manager - "It was a big challenge to make sure we win game but we did it." So, if you want to know why there seems to be little self-belief in our players of late, some hesitancy in their play..............................
Moyes need to start attacking more .. he is trying to be more balanced even with smaller sides thus inviting them to attack us more exploiting our weakness at the back
And the players on the pitch pick that up, its obvious they have little belief in him or his coaching staff - much like a growing number of fans too. All said and done, Fergie never played on the pitch once in all those years, what he did do (even last season with an undeniably poor squad) was to inspire them with belief, and that, together with a first-rate coaching staff, set the team up to perfom at their best.
He sure does so heres what i reckon will happen.... Young and Valencia will get a long never ending run in the side regardless of how **** they play ( without watching the game yet I am confident nani's awful performance was still better than half of theirs ) Guaranteed to work..........
This result could be the one that turns things round.but what is evident is that f**king Woodward needs to open his wallet out and get at least two world class players. One at the back and one in midfield. Moyes needs to remember that he is not constrained as he was at Everton and that he has to go for the very best and forget about the glazers f**king dividends... United need to reinforce. If he cannot see something so f**king obvious then he isn't a United calibre manager...
Sometimes you have to fall a little to allow youngsters to come throug and get their chance. We have Adnan who has been brought into the team this season and made an impact (i think most of us have known about him for 18 months or more), we also have Lingard and Powell who are not far off followed by Kean. If we just went out and bought ready made players every time we were weak then you would never have seen players like Scholes, Beckham, the Nevills or Giggs play for us. Do you want to end up like City who will probably never have a member of their Elite Development Squad break into the first team because they just go out and buy ready made players when replacing someone or are you prepared to go through the odd transitional period in order to give our youth a chance?
That is why I said two world class players. TBh this team is more than 2 players short of being a top top European side. Of course you have to give youth a chance. I have lived through the scholes, Beckham, Giggs and the Nevilles. But remember we had world class senior players too when they were around. The Cantonas, Hughes, and very good experienced players. What we need is a mixture of youth and experience
We are far off a top European team i agree. I still think we are good enoogh to compete for the Premier League though, we have lacked a commanding midfield player for some years now but it hasn`t really affected us. I think our early problems this season are in defence, i haven`t checked but i can`t think of two games this season where we have played the same back four, injury`s permitting i would like to see a back four of Rafael, Vidic/Jones, Evans and Evra have a consistant run of games to see if we can cut out the goals against and make the low goals for count.
I don't understand Sparky banging on about Chicharito's challenge on Huth, Stoke were being dirty throughout the second half and were very lucky not to have a player sent off
Wasn`t even a challenge Matth, he tried to block the ball and Huth kicked his foot, painful but hardley a bad challenge.
