Well... I think we should at least have a match thread

Line up for today? My first thought is about that central midfield. Bloody hell.

Would go 5 3 2 myself.

Back three of Martinez, Maguire and Varane.
Dalot and Shaw as wing backs. Can't see Malachia getting just yet but you never know.

Midfield three of Fernandes, Fred and Eriksen.

Front two of Sancho and Martial.

Ronaldo is sub.

 

Tbh Bruno, Fred and Eriksen midfield was a disaster against Brentford.

I think we need to shield that defence and Martinez in the DM role would be better.

 

It was in front of a back four though, not three centre halves.

It's just a variation on a similar theme I suppose.
Martinez is either the third centre half or a DCM.

Would rather him one side of Maguire, Varane the other, myself.

I think that's pretty much bang on. We're all agreed Rashford needs to be dropped.

Toss up between Bruno or Ronaldo, but I've just gone for dropping Bruno in the same vain as Rashford. But maybe it's too important a game to.

Either way it gives us options from the bench (assuming it's NOT too late by the time we need them!!)

 

As long as we have some semblance of a midfield. Practically non existent and cut through like knife through butter in those 2 matches. Our front players did hardly any pressing and our MF players like headless chickens. A bit of team work is all I am asking even if we lose. Not too much to ask is it?

Salah anytime scorer
Over 3.5 goals
Over 6.5 corners

So expect none of those to happen

 

If this was one of our recent predecessors in charge I'd take a 0-6 right now.

But seeing as I have the lovin' for Ten Hag I wont.

 

Real test tonight. It’s all about performance and drive. Lose without any fight we are in for a dreadful season.

No Maguire, no Ronaldo. He had to make changes.

Is anyone actually going to watch it? Not sure I can bring myself to. Got a horrible feeling it’s going to be a cricket esq score line.

 

Was like that last week, not the score but expected to lose after what we saw the first game.
If we react and play as we can then a 2-1 win should be achievable, if nothing changes from first 2 games then 0-6 would not surprise me.

 

i can understand TH’s thinking here. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain by being brave. If his team gets poleaxed as I fear he’ll be pilloried anyway. But it does put up a fighting performance, his position within the club will be strengthened.

I just hope his bravery is rewarded.

 

Makes sense Martinez and Varane, as Liverpool don't have a No.9 and their forwards aren't big.

Be a concern at corners though maybe!

I'm glad he's shook the team up, why the **** not.

 

Could be why McT gets the DM role.
Malacia against Salah is a tough start for the lad but with the speed he has is probably best suited tonight.
