So Chelsea played the formation of 4-6-0. And when Torres came on they changed it to 4-5-0. Chav FC bring total football to nobody
Yesterday was dissapointing, unfortuantely no one realy looked like scoring. United were most certainly the more attacking team but then nothing really happened in either end. Cole deserved a yellow for diving, Valencia deserved a yellow for his foul in the first half and we may have got a penalty depending on the ref for Lampards handball which IMO was a penalty as his arm was outstreched to his side, there wasn't much distence between the players but IMO it should have been a penalty though it wasn't stonewall. I agree with Moyes, their needs to be claification on the handball rule, there's too much inconsistency, especially considering we got a free kick in our half from an even less likely to be deliberate handball not long after Lampards. Where on the pitch shouldn't matter, if the one we got in our half wa a free kick, Lmapards must certainly have been a penalty. No conspiracy or anything though, just the usual inconsistent refereeing. Hand neither been given there would be more of a case to support the Lmapard decision was right. Otherwise, the entire game isn't worth that much talking about, certainly not worth the page after page of abuse that's been postede on here by those who kow who they are.
Having been a referee there is clarity on handball its just not exercised as it should be at times. In last nights scenario was more difficult, the players arm was in a natural position when the ball stuck him. As a referee one must decide whether the interference was intentional, he would also have to judge the distance between the ball when struck and any contact. He clearly judged it as he saw it, accidental and of what I've read in the news and on here the decision was right on this occasion. So Moyes to my mind is attempting to maintain any pressure that his predecessor had over referees.
There's where I disagree with you Robby. It wasn't in a natural position, it was stuck out at an angle from his side. It was away from his body, not helping with balance, or protecting his face, and completely the opposite of his other arm, which was wrapped around his stomach. There's no reason to jump with your arm like that, unless you are attempting to make yourself bigger when blocking, either consciously or subconciously. It does make it a nightmare for referees tho, as there's no guidance on this at all and absolutely no consistency. Pretty sure you guys got a penalty a few years back against Carrick, when the ball hit his arm in almost exactly the same position, and if anything his arm was nearer to his side. Your comment about Moyes 'trying to maintain pressure' on referees is just blatant bollocks tho'. You and I both know that any manager in Moyes' position would have made the same argument about a lack of consistency and clarity, particularly after the handball given (unfairly I thought) against Oscar a few minutes later.
It started out in that position but when the ball struck they were both tucked into his solar plexus as in the video I posted on another thread. Perfectly natural I'd say? But we will agree to disagree on the Moyes comments though
Mourinho has never had a 0-0 at Old Trafford and played with six attacking players. The common dominator is Moyes. I'm still amazed you've gone from an attacking winning manager to a defensive minded manager who hasn't won anything.
And who parked the bus? I have not seen such a bus parking team in my life, Roman will be most upset and sack Jose in 2 weeks time BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea have completed the signing of Korean player Park De Bus on a four year deal.
Mourinho has won every noteworthy trophy there is to win and broken points records in Spain and England's top flights and he says to his team "Alright lads, don't want to win this one". Glaswegian managers are traditionally negative and Moyes is no different. He was happy with a 0-0 at home. Totally against United's club traditions and what they used to stand for.
He was probably expecting more of an attacking threat from the champions of england on their own pitch
An away point at OT is a good result. Mourinho knows how to get results, it's what he does. Pretty it is often not, but he doesn't care, he's paid to win trophies & he's damn good at it.
Chelsea played for a 0-0. Mourinho is know worldwide as a defensive manager. No striker and not playing mata.
Mess? In his last full season he won both domestic cups! Hundreds of clubs would kill for that kind of "mess"
Why are Chelsea fans trying to blame Moyes for their teams poor performance lol. Both teams were poor last night mostly down to Jose's poor tactics, all we have heard all summer is Moyes is crap, United are in decline blah blah blah. Chelsea have failed to live up to the hype the fans and press have set and now the reality has kicked in, they are not as good as they believed getting by on bad reffing decisions and are now looking for someone to blame lol
No one is blaming Moyes for our teams performance, we are blaming Moyes for Man Utds performance. Mourinho should be blamed for not playing a striker, and not playing Mata and Lukaku.
Chelsea were in a position to dominate English football. The spending power they had was unprecedented (until City came along). As it turned out Fergie built a new United, Jose and Roman imploded and Chelsea went on to win 1 league title in 7 years as the club lacked stability.
