If Amrabat is injured then best forget about him. Given that means we have a few key defenders injured, I personally, right now, would be reverting to a back three with wing backs. That back three would have Maguire in the middle, AWB on the right, Martinez on the left. Dalot and Reguillon would be wing backs, so defend when we're defending, and then play as wingers going forward. I'd have three in midfield; Casemiro as 'pivot' (or whatever glib name modern football calls it now) with Fernandes left and Mount (or Eriksen) right. Then Rashford and Hojlund as front two. The rest are subs. Solid and compact and there's no way teams play right through the middle of that. Or at least shouldn't.
After today’s show, Maguire certainly wouldn’t have done any worse. And the only way for him to redeem himself is to play. Lindelof and Martinez are strangers when they play together. And one has to admire Maguire for his professionalism. Of course he is! He’d be crazy to think that his role is assured. He certainly needs more time. But while we are waiting for that time when everything somehow clicks, the lifeless performances is not the basis to earn him further time.
That’s fair enough I obviously don’t watch It just seems odd Watching from the outside all the ingredients are there I think one of the big problems in the way I look at things in terms of challenging You cant win the title in the first 5-10 games but it can be pretty much over With the pace that City are setting again it feels any points dropped are catastrophic lot of talk on the radio that dressing room is lost Is that how you guys are seeing it ?
Is this that Villa mong on Talk Sport? Bloke knows **** all about anything, just radio click bait. He's a clueless ****, typical TS moron. Ten Hag shouldn't be under threat, especially after how he ticked two very important boxes last season; CL qualification and a trophy. Sackong him gets us nowhere, it just resets us back a couple of seasons again. He needs to sort his squad, and get rid of the glaringly obvious spoofers in the side. Can't lie though, we need to bring in some dominant personalities into the squad as we have none whatsoever.
This is the part that is most disheartening. The lack of fight on the pitch is just criminal. The worst part is that they have it in him but there seem to be a complete lack of care. The posture of the players dropping every time they give the ball away. This is particularly true of Bruno. Shoulder drops with head shaking. Like wtf, get it back?!! This is precisely what is costing us. It is why Brighton dominated us. Btw, Bruno should be dropped! He really struggled to inspire the team with his own performances. Another concerning thing is that I get what ETH is trying to implement but I really can’t see evidence of it in the way that we play. We rarely look like scoring goals and there’s rarely any assurance with the way we attack. This is why I’ve insisted for the longest of time that having a No. 9 won’t solve the problem because the system is simply not there at the moment for a striker to thrive. The system is so rigid that players get lost in it. This is the biggest problem with ETH’s system. It isn’t getting the best out of the players.
Well, as I said earlier, can't comment with any authority as I didn't watch it. But, is that really the case? MOTD won't tell me anything as they'll show 5 minutes and then some talking head will try to find a reason why it's Ten Hag's fault and not his feckless players. (with some women nodding in the background!!) I do think we were robbed against Arsenal mind. Genuinely cheated. Not sure the truth today.
you’d get to see the goals at least. They could have scored more too with ease. Such was their dominance.
I’ve just read the match day report on BBC and I think it actually watered down how badly prepared we were for this game and how horribly we executed on the field. Understandably, we had players out injured today. But Brighton lost so many key players to the transfer market, yet you really wouldn’t know it from the way they played today. I hate to say it but I really don’t think more time will dramatically change this team unless there’s a clean slate of players. But then again, how many more fkin players are we going to keep buying to be competitive? Ultimately, it comes back to resourcefulness, coaching, and execution to create a system of plug and play regardless of which player is available. Because of the undoubted talents in the squad, we will win games. But we will never challenge for the league with the current system and culture.
It's not all the players pal, it's an endemic situation within the football club. You mention Brighton in the same breath, rightly, as they are the perfect counterpoint to how United are currently ran. Different animals completely of course, but the way Brighton recycle players and managers means there is a plan and forethought going on. The way United are ran is reactive and amateurish. This goes from the top all the way down. I bet the tea lady can't make a proper brew anymore.
My major complaint with De Gea is that he didn’t coordinate the defenders enough. But my god, Onana is actually utterly fkin useless in this predicament. De Gea will without a doubt be light years better with many of the goals that we have conceded. The emphasis on the bs of sweeper keeper role is also fkin ******ed.
Ok no need for a new thread again. Lisandro is back. Cb pairing of him and Casemiro who had a decent game against the Toons. It is yet another new CB partnership though!
