Btw, I'm curious if the members on here who said that selling RVP was a very good piece of business as he wasn't going to replicate the same form, are going to stick to that claim? Though in all honesty, forget about RVP's current form, but on what planet, and in what football sense, does it ever make sense to get rid of your best striker, your highest goal scoring striker, the leagues highest goal scorer, the leagues best striker, and of all things, to get rid off him to a rival? I'd really like someone to explain it to me, from a football sense, how that made any sense? Hillwood said RVP was sold for footballing reasons, so i'd like someone on here, who supports that view, to explain how exactly the sale was beneficial in terms of footballing reasons?
I thought he was sold because he did not want to sign and Arsenal would lose the transfer fee next year. It was all simple as Van Persie did not want to play with Arsenal any more.
Wenger looks really tired and disillusioned, losing his best players year after year and starting it all over again is not easy for an old man. The team looks strangely unmotivated and disjointed. Just to think that the only player who was motivated and played reasonably well was Vito Mannone... Vermaelen as captain does not work, he is unable to motivate the team, plays like **** and looses confidence with every game. Arteta should be our captain. Walcott situation does not help either. Our top scorer is being played as a sub most of the time because he does not want to stay with the club. I wonder how does it affect the squad.
In all honesty i think this losing our best players argument is a bit of a myth perpetuated by the media. We are led to believe season after season our best players leave the club. How many of our best players have actually left the club at the peak of their form ? Over the past few years i can think of RvP and Fabrregas but how many others have there been ?
HT: Loserpool 0-1 Newcackle Cracking goal from Cabaye. Loserpool have more of the ball but can't create anything as usual. Suarez keeps getting into the box and crossing to no-one. Typical Newcastle have one shot on goal and score. Their chance/conversion rate must be massive. Krul timewasting before half-time... he does it all the time, what a massive twat.
FT 1-1, good result for us. Coloccini got pissed off with Suarez and tried to break his leg in half. Got himself sent off. Entertaining game.
Myth? Wenger himself came out saying how we would've been a great team if the likes of Adebayor, Nasri, Fabregas, and RVP had all stayed, so it's not the media passing on this false information. Many players who leave Arsenal haven't replicated the same form, but that doesn't mean it's good for Arsenal, for example Nasri, he hasn't replicated the same form at City, but him leaving was still a loss to Arsenal as he fit in with our system and would've done tremendously well had he stayed, he had his best season with us before he left, so we were doing something right with him, then we let him go, only to be replaced by Gervino, who by all accounts, hasn't been an adequate replacement.
