Montero was outstanding for Swansea today. Ivanovic effectively gave up trying to stop him. Worth a cheeky, awesome bid?
Very funny wise guy... Think right back is sorted given how comfortable Darmian looked today. Valencia did his usual ball watching masterclass when he came on. Why LVG persists with him as a right back is a mystery. It's not Valencia's fault but he has no natural defensive instincts and has no idea where to position himself when we're defending.
Spot on. He's a workhorse though so LVG will persist with him. It's similar reason why he took off Mata instead of Young bcos he tracks back. Not knocking Young defensively but imo when you have 2 midfielders playing DM, then leave Mata on, put Depay on the left and bring on Herrera. And if he'd brought Jones on to replace Darmian, kept Mata on, he wouldnt have needed Valencia anyway.
Dont think Darmian needed to be replaced. Rooney should have gone off so hernandez had game time. Add to that the facy rooney was poor all game, it would be wise to keep our other strikers fit and ready.
Darmian was knackered, possibly cramping. It's a cliche but the PL is faster than other leagues and takes some getting used to. Ayew said after the Chav game that it was more intense than what he'd been used to in France which is probably a quicker league than Serie A. The good thing was Darmian looked composed. I know nothing about the lad but he slotted in well today so hopefully he'll turn out to be a decent signing.
Ah fair enough. Still, if you're going to bring on a RB pick a defender. He took off Mata and Darmian and tried to replace them with Valencia
I think the Blind at centre half experiment is going to go horribly wrong the minute he's up against a physical centre forward. Worst case will be that Benteke beats the crap out of him.
Kanes pretty physical tbh. He bullied the routemaster last season. You're right though. At least it shows lvg has finally seen evans for the sack of ****e he is.
Blind is not physically strong nor does he have a turn of pace. Ideal for a CB What he relies on his reading of the game and interception. But that will only get him so far. He will have his pants pulled down at some stage.
When we face the bentekes, Andy carrolls and lukakus of this world, well just need to play smalling and jones instead of Blind + another
I'm most impressed with Blind as LB tbh. I prefer him to Shaw atm which I know isnt ideal as Shaw has real potential. Ultimately though we need to buy a proven CB who can lead that backline.
None of you rate Rojo? he is a strong, committed defender with a good height to his jump. He is a card in waiting outside the area but keeps his head in it and makes some great tackles.
Isnt he also better as a LB. I do rate him as having potential to be a solid defender. But he's not the finished article yet. We need one.
Left back is Blinds best position for me, he can defend very well and has a great cross going forward. Shaw still has some learning to do defensive wise but will get there.
