Now for some consistency. we have made progress from December and it seems to me we are operating at 75% of potential. Up from 50% of a few weeks ago. There is still more to come. We are only doing well for 45 minutes and ADM and Falcao are still not fit. LVG may have settled on a system - thank **** for that. The good thing is that we should expect this team to improve in the last matches of the season.
The change of formation has certainly helped, I mentioned this a little while back and felt you had the players that suited a 4-3-3. The midfield is the reason you've started to have success imo, the 3 in there now control the game and allow the front 3 to play.
Not so much took our foot off the gas, just waited till we had breathing space then switched from our usual attacking style to a more defensive one, which has never been our strong point. Same as we did against City back in 2012 - Kompany got sent off, we went 3-0 up at the Etihad, then sat back, invited pressure and ended up only just winning 3-2. Like London's said - I think if it had stayed 11 vs 11 we would have maintained our pressing and attacking intensity for the whole game and been more comfortable closing the game out. But as it was Liverpool had one shot on target the whole game, and that was deflected, so we were still comfortable enough winners in the end.
That's the most frustrating stat from the game, we were at home and if we had played 90 mins with 10 men I'd expect better than that.
Mata not great at pens to be honest GF. He missed a couple for us (including against Bayern in the CL shootout I think)
They played you off the park when it was 11 vs 11. Your only shot on target went in. Smash and grab, ****ing lol.
DR thinks it was a smash and grab? Liverpool experienced a footballing lesson yesterday. Outclassed in every single department and we made them and the sport media look like absolute morons. The first 35 minutes were as one sides a game at anfield you will ever see. It wasnt even a surprise. While the media and fans of both sides were claiming how easy it would be for Liverpool and how a draw would be a good result, we all should have checked both sides results v those around them. United are top of that mini league while liverpool are bottom. Flat track Liverpool are back.
More of a smash, grab, then wave it in their face for so long that Stevie and Skrtel lost their marbles. Blind vs Emre Clown pretty much summed up the afternoon. Here's the ball, no wait we've taken it away and you've fallen on your arse. Try again next year. Smash and laugh at Liverpool
To be honest I couldn't believe what was happening in the first half. Like most watchers. Never has any United team gone to their home ground and totally dominated them. It was not some kick and rush type of pressing. It was controlled domination. No one saw this coming. And it wasn't against some struggling team, down in the dumps. It was against a team supposed to be riding high, the best form team of the league and all the pundits have been jizzing over. This was the best 45 minutes against them I have experienced. No United manager has ever done this to them. Not Ferguson not anyone. LVG may or may not get that CL place but he totally owned Brenda - home and away.
