Agreed. IF Bielsa thought that we didn't need upgrades, that's worrying. It's obvious to most of us that that was what's required, with several Championship level players who cannot keep playing above their level week in week out.

 

The problem is man for man most teams are better than us, we rely on playing as a team. If every match was judged on man for man ability we'd risk relegation

 

Agree with a lot of the above but... I thought we played better there last year... they had four shots in the first half then and scored four goals, we had plenty of chances and the second half was just a basketball game.

I'd play struijk ahead of koch at cb every time.

If KP came back from holiday overweight and unfit... on his wages... we should sell the fcker. (I suspect he didn't, and it's MB being overly strict!)

 

For three seasons our creative spark in the Championship was Pablo. I agree he offered nothing last season but that was down to luck that we never really missed him, my point is we were looking for a replacement, we did virtually sign one but he failed his medical.

We tried to sign several replacements before last season started, in the end we continued to use Roberts or Rodrigo, we all know Rodrigo was going to be the replacement for Bamford.

This season we still haven't found that central midfield player, for me it is either Rodrigo or Bamford up front. Surely two capable strikers is absolute minimum for the Premier League? Roll it back further and Rodrigo was really the replacement for Kemar Roofe.

We don't really see the players in training, we have to judge them on match day, but here we are after a few preseason games and one game against a very weakened Manchester United and we were absolutely torn apart. Already my mind is made up that Klich, Roberts and Costa are the same players of last season, it beggars belief that there isn't better out there.

Bielsa is a fantastic coach but he frustrates me with this everyone needs to learn two positions business, Struijk and Koch are CB's, either play with an extra one or pick a proper midfield player, Philips was only on holiday for 11 days, are you seriously telling me he couldn't have managed 60 minutes. I'm fed up with Dallas covering LB just play Firpo or one of the U23s

Have Rodrigo on the bench and sign a proper number 10 yes it was the first game but it highlights how poor we are when we play as a group of individuals

 

Id say Pablo wasn't given an opportunity last season.

Last game of the season he showed he still had it

 

To be beaten last season 6-2 and now 5-1 shows we learnt nothing!

We knew what to expect, but did very little different.

Was disappointed by Meslier's kicking and our passing game in particular!

We really needed a fully fit Kalvin Phillips today.

Goes to show how important he is to us!

 

Good point or..... They can getting a starting place would be easy as a midfielder i would join.

 

Two quality centre mids would sort us out. But bielsa believes in forshaw who on the bench. Funny how he never got a kick.

 

Four Man United players were involved today who were away with England yet Bielsa feels Philips was not ready, it’s stubbornness

 

It's just daft and one of the things i don't rate him for.

 

I've had a bit of a walk and pondered on today's game and I maintain that midfield is the problem.

However, I've not seen Pogba ever play that well for scum. I've not even seen Fernandes play that well for them and he has been excellent almost every time I have seen him. Its the first game I've ever seen Fred look like he could play at the top level and I've only ever seen McTominay play better once before and that was against us last season the twat.

Their midfield were all at the very top of their game and we had Klich, a centre half and a centre forward in there trying to stop them. I'm not sure there was much more we could do today. Sometimes, unfortunately, you have to just grit your teeth and say "well played" and focus on the next game.

Well, back in Billericay and having caught up with the posts on here and not seeing the match, I’ve concluded two things.
1. I’ll not be watching the highlights package.
2. If I were KP, I’d be going to speak to Radz and ask for 100K+ a week new contract.

 

It’s not a mathematical certainty yet, but all hope is lost

 

Big difference is there are crowds this season. Liverpool will be a different side this time around. Now reality has kicked in you can see we still lack that quality. Points will be harder to come by and we need to recruit and not wingers. Two mids and rodrigo as spare striker.

 

Scum utd v Leeds utd will be a fixture next season and hopefully a big improvement will see us only ship 4....

 

You’ll be pleased to know I’ve done my favourite spreadsheet and the projection is we will finish between top 6 and 9th

 

I recon rads should mortgage the next10 seasons ticket money and buy a couple of worthwhile strikers
And 4 defenders o and 2 ams

We all knew that with midfield 3 of Koch, Klich & Rodrigo we were doooomed.

What I'm trying to say is that the result of today's game should not surprise anyone.
