United still in the tie. Imagine if they got a 2-2 over there to take them to the semis. Leaving Arsenal and Liverpool sweating on third place
The Fellaini hatred is fairly laughable, the guy played ok tonight. He has just become an easy target for our haters, I thought he was a big presence in our midfield and held off Bayern well. We should have won the game, and I'm dissapointed we didn't. Bayern had loads of possession but did **** all with it, it was kinda like taking on Arsenal! Welbecks goal in the 1st half should have stood, but we rarely get the rub of the green in Europe. Anyways all to play for 2nd leg, we just gotta nick 1 goal away and then it's game on
just been over on the Mouser board, they are having a real meltdown on there. Rooney and Vidic diving, valencia should have seen red, Moyes park the bus tactics, Bayern very disappointing. Before tonight it was going to be a humiliation and the end of us, now they can`t understand what went wrong and are blaming anyone and everyone
It's not about hate. He is a player who simply does not perform. Today he made a total of 2 tackles - both unsuccessful. He won 1 header from 7 attempts! His pass completion tonight was 75% which was poor but more than the figure itself, it was those passes that cost us plenty of decent counter attacks. And worst of all he just stood there in the box, watching Mandzukic make the run on him to score. He deserves criticism. The only silver lining is he didn't give away any fouls.
Stats aren't everything. Fellaini is a good player, he is just being unfairly singled out because of his price tag. I thought he played well tonight, he closed them down well and was strong when challenged. He's not a world beater but you need a big powerful player in your midfield. He did his job well tonight
What's unfair about those stats. He made two tackles I don't know about being strong when challenged - he was bundled off the ball every time. What I will concede is that we HAVE to play him bcos we don't have a choice. But if I had a choice between him and Anderson, I would've chosen Anderson...he's not been great either but he'll win the ball more and can occasionally pick a pass
Liverpool are seven points ahead with a vastly superior goal difference effectively making it eight points. Therefore, Arsenal need us to lose three more than them in six games. Plus, they have Everton to worry about
I think Man Utd did very well. Yes, they were at home. Yes, they've won the competition before. But, given their current form, a draw against the current holders (who are ripping most teams apart, almost all the time!) was superb. Admittedly, they have conceded at home, allowing the the dreaded CL away goal, but they performed fantastically well under the circumstances. I was impressed. They need to improve for the second leg, (best Sven-Goran Eriksson voice) for sure, but they've got a draw to defend. I have my doubts about them scoring in Germany but, then again, I thought they'd get no result at OT, TBF! Do I think they'll win over two legs? No. Do I think they've given a good account of themselves so far? Resounding yes! Credit where it's due, I say.
I don't think we need to go chasing things in the 2nd leg, as we have 90 minutes to get an away goal. We just need to keep things tight and remain patient, and you never know, we could nick a goal on the counter. If it is still 0-0 with 20 mins to go, then we might want to think about taking a few risks but I don't think we need to panic. We will get opportunities in Munich playing the way we did tonight. Arsenal and City did well over there so it can be done
Seroius indigstion this morning having been made to eat my words last night. Having predicted a right thrashing, I have to put my hands up and admit I was completely wrong. Apart from one or two, it was a great team display. Was it just me or was there an article in the press leading up to the game which showed the players practicing on a havily watered Carrington pitch - did we over-water the last 25 yds at OT to thwart Robben & Ribery ?? Jones for one could hardly keep his feet. Well done boys, now for a 2 - 2 in Munich
You must have missed him ushering Schweinsteiger past and watching the ball for his goal then. That alone is worthy of the stick he's getting. Without that we would have won. He's not good enough. Simple as that. He's two levels below good enough. I also thought he might come good but the last few games have proved me wrong.
