Why assume that? Fergie had already proved himself a winner before he got the Utd job but Moyes has won nothing but Fergie's admiration.
Insulting sir Alex again I see. Moyes has had 70million. How much more does he need? 100? 500? A billion? Unlimited funds didnt help mark Hughes, Phil scholari, avb, Sven or others. 100million didnt help Kenny. I would say most of those are better than Moyes.
Probably best I start slagging off the players who make up the team who won the title last season under a manager who actually knew what he was doing eh. Much better eh. Fickle clueless gimp.
Football was a different game in the 80s, United were a different team/club/corporation and, as mentioned, Ferguson was proven already. As for money, he's spent over £60m so far and doesn't seem to have improved the midfield a jot nor addressed any of the obvious frailties in the side. Early days for Mata of course but both he and Fellaini look like signings for the sake of signings rather than with any clear indication of how they will benefit the team.
I disagree with the bit in bold. Fellaini was signed to plug the massive gap in central midfield. The fact that he hasn't started performing decently yet is the issue, but if he played as well as he did for Everton he would have been a decent signing. So I wouldn't say he was signed for the sake of signings. Mata is not an orthodox winger so wouldn't slot into a 'traditional' United 4-4-2, but we don't know what formation Moyes is planning on using in the future. (I sure hope he has some kind of idea). But Mata does offer something that no one else in the squad does (barring Kagawa who has not lived up to expectations), and that is creativity in the final third. Our central midfielders are typically deep lying players who hold and create from deep (Carrick, Fletcher etc). There is no one creating exclusively from higher up the pitch, unless we use a player in a dual role (striker dropping deep (Rooney) or a winger cutting inside (Januzaj)). Although these players are creative they have other roles they can do, and Mata can do things in that creative role that no one else can come close to doing with his vision, creativity and technique.
Surely Kagawa could have done that given the chance. And if Rooney plays second striker, there is no room for a no 10 (mata or kagawa) or an attacking Central midfielder such as Fellaini. You seem to have thrown £200m on transfers and wages in that zone of the field with ni clear plan
