The Swans' last competitive match was the FA Cup Quarter-Final defeat at home to Spurs when their performance left a lot to be desired - it was possibly the most lacklustre under Carlos Carvalhal and we have to hope that the combination of a much-changed team and the fact that PL survival must be the priority were the main reasons and that it was a one-off poop display. The Swans' last away PL match was away at Huddersfield and saw the Swans gain a battling point after going down to 10 men after only 11 minutes when Jordan Ayew was sent-off. In terms of being resolute, defiant and battling for the shirt, that performance was everything that the performance against Spurs was not. If Carvalhal's team is to return with anything from Manchester, they will need to battle like they did against Huddersfield - play like they did against Spurs and we could get hammered, and have serious damage inflicted on our Goal Difference. United go into the match sitting in second spot in the table, albeit a massive 16pts behind Citeh with the title out if reach. Importantly for Mourinho's team, they lead 5th placed Chelsea by 9pts and so are on the cusp of securing Champions a League football again next season - something they will want to achieve as quickly as possible given their (surprising) exit at the hands of Sevilla from this year's tournament. The Swans have played United on 31 previous occasions, winning 10, drawing 6 and losing 15. In the corresponding fixture last season, the Swans secured a valuable 1-1 draw thanks to a wonderful Gylfi Sigurdsson free-kick. Sigurdsson curled over the wall from about 20 yards to cancel out Wayne Rooney's penalty following a controversial penalty awarded to United - Swansea had every reason to claim Marcus Rashford dived for the penalty that Rooney converted - indeed, Swansea were the better side for much of the first half, enjoying the majority of possession as a sluggish United had to rely on David de Gea to make smart saves from Fernando Llorente and Jordan Ayew. Looking ahead to next Saturday, the Swans have avoided defeat in 3 of their last 5 visits to Old Trafford, and they will hope to make it 4 out of 6. My heart says 1-1, but my head says 1-3 to United.
I'm not so positive for this one with Jordan Ayew out, don't rate Abraham, not smart enough for me in and around the box, going for a Manur win sad to say......
Game is a Free Hit, we are not expected to get anything from this, so we can go out and have a go. Shame they are not in Europe still as they may be more focussed on getting second place in PL. We seem to be rubbish after international breaks so also hoping CC can get us out of that trend. Also hoping that Lawro predicts a loss for us as that will give us a chance!!! We will miss Jordan in my view too, so also wondering how we will cover.
Sorry but a 2-0 defeat as I can't see us creating many chances. Would be pleasantly surprised to come away with a 0-0 though
We need to play a lot better to have any chance of a sniff......This should be an easy win for United ...4 - 0.....
We are limited with options upfront even with Both Ayew's available, but Jordan has been our stand out front man in this mixed bag of a season, he's been asked to step up after a very poor season from Bony, and not having him for this fixture and the WBA game that follows is a blow, but we especially needed his intensity at Old Trafford, just hope we don't ship too many goals, as goal difference could be very critical come the last game of the season, I'm sure Manur will be looking to exploit the fact that we are missing one of our key players of this season, just hope we put on a very brave defensive show and frustrate the home fans, could then get interesting, but clutching at straws me thinks!...................
yes we're bare when it comes to scoring atm , but a point away is more than doable , boring draw maybe but I'd be more than happy with a point regardless how critical some punters ( and posters ) will be
Our honeymoon period could be over if we play like we are playing and im not expecting anything off United but the real test will be against WBA and should we lose that then we will be in serious trouble as one of the three to go down... Have we the bottle to go for it or are we going to be camped in our own half struggling to get anywhere....
United aren't free flowing anymore, but with our injuries they will stillbe expecting an easy victory. United to win by 2 goals. Hope we can get something though. Don't want to sit back for 90 minutes hoping for a point because they will score.
We sell out tickets against big clubs but can't fill our own very small stadium for a cheaply priced, League Cup match against Spurs. I despair.
