This match being beamed live to 133 countries and attendence over 53,000. welcome to the Premeirship!!!!
we have had 0, yes 0 shots on target. It is a shame with the players we have at the manager´s disposal.
The sadness is Matej Vydra still has not played properly this season. Then we can see if he is able to play at this level.
One shot on target in three matches and that was against Preston North End, allowing for the opposition today and last Saturday. That is still not good.
Think there were things we can take from that. Second best without a doubt, but we will not come up against a team with this quality every week.
If we don´t have a shot on goal ON TARGET FFS in the next game...... Building from the back, I know, the last few games are not what I want to see from my club.
Totally agree. All very well making sure we're defensively sound, but if we're not, what then? I was happy to accept 0 shots on target at half time given that we hadn't given them a sniff, but then to go behind so soon after the break and still not have a go? But- only 4 games in, still time to find some shape up front.
QSF changed tactics when we went behind, which he had to do but in all honesty it was all about if City wanted more goals and I felt they had a least two more gears available second half if they wanted them. First half we did very well with system deployed (defensive). But we came out and were caught cold/sleeping for first goal on 47 mins and game was over for us.
Anybody else concerned that we are playing not to lose and Have not managed a single on taget shot in 270 minutes of PL football? And all the time our most natural finisher is sat on the bench. I don't blame the players I blame the coach! My opinion is, no one expected us to get anything from the game, so why not go and give it a damn good go - that is what Watford is all about. Instead it appears all we did was try not to lose and when we came unstuck the coach leaves (arguably) our best striker warming the bench...he may have tweaked the formation slightly, by pushing ighalo on, but Deeney/Vydra still have the best understanding as a strike partnership IMHO and that should have been the change. I am sure others will disagree, but I think the coach is not capable, or is too blinkered to change it....not a good trait for a manager.
While I was surprised at the way we set up to avoid a thrashing, there is some logic to it. Come the end of the season there could be a number of the smaller teams very close to each other and goal difference could come into play. As much as I want to see the Vydra/Deeney partnership back together, I doubt that Vydra would have had any joy against their central defence. Deeney who frequently could out muscle Championship defenders was kept on a very tight reign when we did attack, and didn't really have much joy against them. From what I have seen so far, the biggest disappointment is Jurado, who tries too many of the clever little flicks that don't come off, giving the ball away too often. No doubt we have a slanted view of the games, but the Beeb have this comment. "Watford's gameplan worked superbly when the game was goalless, with City failing to find a way through the visitors in the first 45 minutes. The Hornets did more than just work hard and defend in numbers, they kept City out thanks to some impressive organisation." Maybe the organisation will slowly get us scoring some goals.
I hope so,or at least pose a threat, City aside, the other games have been woesful but it is ealry days and at least we aren´t letting in loads. New Flower new strategy I guess. If I was a Watford midfielder or striker, I´d feel sorry for my cat now mind...
Oh dear.... Until half-time we looked hopeful... but then two killer blows and we were defeated. One of the quietest away supporters for a while... sadly ..... as they really needed our support on the pitch. If we continue to play this I can see no future in the team for Ighalo... or perhaps Deeney.. let alone MV or Fessi I put the responsibility at the door of management and the head coach..... Last year we scored two at City Fessi and TD and were denied a pen before HT This year.. and £30+ million later.... did we get a shot on target??? We will come back from this..... But this sets a marker for the standard for the season.... clearly... and currently we do not match it..... yes ... it was city..... and they looked so strong and sharp..... But four games in we cannot be in this position... .three draws and one defeat... and seemingly losing the plot up front... weird considering our personnel
