We will put it right for the villa game I am sure Pelle and Cedric will be back........and besides I have tickets so we must win.
These poor 20mins spells have happened to greater or lesser degrees in most matches I gave seen us in this season. Against poor opposition we get away with it but against the better sides it costs us And I don't think it's all down to the opposition, for whatever reason we drop off completely in our intensity and approach during these periods
Obviously and has also put him there ahead of Cedric in a couple of games. I don't know how bad this Martina is but he must be dreadful....because Yoshida never looks comfortable there, he's had two stinkers against both Manchester clubs. But yes RK picks him...I feared the worst with Yoshida on the team sheet as RB and I bet I wasn't the only one.
Just one thing on the positives. Have we ever had a more consistently dominant CB in the air as Virgil? He just doesn't seem to ever get beaten aerially.
I wasn't sure about him, had all these great stats for goals, assists etc. in the SPL but wondered whether he could defend at this level. But I'm actually shocked by how good he is ..his skill and shot which hit the bar today was brilliant and he's a good defender. Really surprised we were the only club to take a punt on him, imo he'd walk into any PL starting line up.
Fonte should be available for the Liverpool game, it was a cut that caused him to go off, and it was the time needed to patch it up that forced the substitution
I know Yoshida was responsible for the first goal, but we were already being forced back before that, and that was as a result of RK changing the lineup, and formation. Davis seemed to be wide left, which meant he was wasted. We lost his foraging in the centre of the park, and also lost him as an out ball. End of the first half, and throughout the second, we caused City problems, but we have been made to pay for not taking our chances. After last week's result, I was in a very dark mood, because we were so poor. Today, despite giving them a 2 goal lead, I enjoyed the performance because we showed we can match, and better a top team for long periods.
Team selection was ****e enough. At the very least Davis should have been infront of Yoshida. And Tadic starting on the left, with Mane central. That's at the very least. I don't want Romeu on the park with Yoshida at right back either, it makes it too hard to get an attack going. Koeman needs to wake the hell up and I blame him 100% for the loss.
First of all, I've missed the match so I won't comment on it. But before the match I would have most certainly told you that I don't agree with this lineup. It is well documented on this message board that I don't want Yoshida ever to start on right back and that midfield partnership of Wanyama and Romeou is our third or fourth preferred combination in my books. So it's not with hindsight. it's with foresight.
Where was Cedric today? Not even on the bench, we haven't any other real alternatives it would seem? I reckon Matt Targett would put in a shift if asked!
Hardly foresight as you know the result. Anyway, same question to you as a few others: Who would you have played at RB today with Cedric out?
@physioroom: Jose Fonte is expected to be OK for the midweek Capital Cup game vs #LFC [gashed knee]. Cedric was dropped today - no injury #SaintsFC
