If we truly only had two CMs, we'd be more likely to go 424 than 4231. Eight years and people still think Klopp will switch to 4231 at some point
Gakpo does well in space. His better games for us have been where teams don't park the bus. Start nunez gakpo salah. Finish with Diaz and Jota. Midfield needs to kick 7 shades out of kdb.
He'll play the full ninety regardless of what we think but he shouldn't even be starting, been one of our worst players this season when he should be leading the way.
yeah but as you say he will play anyway and cos its an actual big game he will.likely turn up. at we have diaz and Jota to run up to some form of speed for last 30mins.
Salah pulls it out in the big games though and if someone is running through 1v1 you’d want it to be Salah ahead of any of the others.
As MITO says, that rules Milner out. Plus we need someone who can pass and control the ball and not treat it like a hot potato.
Whilst he has been short on his usual standards, the guy still has around 30+ goals plus assists in all comps this season. Whether you like it or not, he is still our best attacker.
Not sure that saying works given he term hot potato normally refers to something that is passed on quickly which is exactly what we need. If anything more players need to treat it like that and move the ball on quickly rather than take 6/7 touches and slow the game down and allow opposition to get into shape
If the player releases it quickly to our own player and to the best option, then you're right. But when we're talking about Milner, the hot potato reference implies he is scared of the football and instead of actually receiving it, assessing options and then picking the best one, they opt to just give it away quickly instead often hoofing it.
He’s not that bad. But what would say is at Rb he’s a lot better as gets bit more tie and is facing play so can pick a pass easier.
Milner is decent, but his main issue is mobility/speed. When ever I see him in midfield, it reminds ne of the training sessions where everyone stands in a circle and passes round some poor prick in the middle.
Hazard was supposedly Chelsea's best attacker before he left, didn't make for a better team though. Can't afford to carry passengers and I have no time for players that don't put the effort in.
Look guys all this talk of 4231 or milner or whatever is all well and good but you ae not telling us how we are going to a) close the gaps between bodies and prevent city finding pace b) score against city by exploit the pace and power we do have. IMO the single most important thing we can do is close the spaces between the two CBS and then between the CBs and the midfield. IF we are leaving massive gaps where a CB can be isolated we will conced goals and if we are all going to the ball then there will be half sapces. Play a midfield 2 and what will happen is KDB will park himself in that right channel half sapce and play ball after ball in at his forwards and we will lose. 433. gakpo to drop deeper imo and make extra body to win parity of possession ( the firmino role) and then send the two of nunez ans salh on the run. Especially if city play no full backs. run at them. the midfield 3 need to has some form of sense to shut the gaps and not all just get attracted to the ball. IMO we need a bus parked at LCM and not move out of that slot. this is key as mahrez will be on robbo and the LCM needs to hammer kdb into the turf every time he gets near the ball. if that player wanders off (milner or thaigo are woeful for that) then kdb will run the came form the right channel. Our RCM slot is more flexible as it's liley going to be grealsih out there and all he wants is a flop over or cut inside. Play henderson and let him run about headlessly all he wants. Bring on elliott. Most of all. tell trent to stick to his channel. don't come infield please. stay out and enable salah running at CBs
I hear you but you're comparing Hazard with a player who has consistently delivered year in year out since he joined, and is still our best attacker this year. I agree that he can do more but the whole team is struggling right now both from lack of confidence but also tactically / structurally. Same applies to Trent really (well, it applies to the whole team other than Alison). The body language from everyone is shocking.
Its on TV. Its man city. Salah will show up for 30mins first half. thats good enough for me. the alrenatives are: a) jota, way off the pace. b) doak, child c) elliott d) diaz (only back training cannot start) e) firmino (no pace) realistically salah is the best option to start this game. What I do not agree with klopp on is that he leave the guy on trotting about. He looks more and more a good 60minute man to me.
